Haha, not exactly... I'm just reckoning back to my first reply here ; I've done my due diligence here =)

These things did actually escape Tandy stores here back in the early 70's, when learning/using Morse Code and key was still considered to be part of the scene ethic. It wasn't long and around the same time, that electronic key systems abounded, along with computers and softwares to do the same thing...and I think CB radio killed a lot of it off as well, then mobile phones formed the last nail =)

-Any- of this sort of gear, is probably worth more than you think you're tossing away to the tip ewaste bin...uh-huh? This item here, I can only find historical ebay sales of this unit, only in the US, and last one was...

Whilst typically I can remain fairly ambivalent throwing stuff to the tip that could most likely be worth money, something like this might make me think twice, just because items like this have curio/collectable value ; what looks like junk to me, looks like gold to others.

Just so I'm not misunderstood ...I affirm I am too old, fat, lazy and couldn't be bothered with doing what's involved with hoisting a ebay ad/auction -- that's not to say my grand kids, nieces, nephews mind do that sort of thing, because all they see is a quick earner, they don't case to own the device and relive the early days of radio ; they want an iPhone =)

'Awww' expresses a sense of waste -- if it's worth something, and it is, I wouldn't throw it away .. I'd delegate and find someone to sell it. Doesn't kinda work if one has to eat austpost charges to get it from A to B in the first place, as you have to recover that cost in the sale (less profits), but it's an exercise in waste not want not...wotnot =)

    Ok, Ok, Ok...
I'll put it on Feebay then alright!

At least as WotNot says, someone else might put it to good use and do something better with it.

Been busy with a new PC build (MUST PLAY MSFS 2020!!!), and I'll get to listing it next week. I'll keep you guys updated and we will all see what the value of someone out there thinks it's worth.

    Cheers,
    GT250.

    GT250,

Check with your local Scout group they have a thing called Scouts of the airwaves where they use SW Radio to communicate to others all around the world.. they would love something like this to show and teach the Brats ( ex Scout leader myself )..

Part of the reason old school comms die is there is no access to the gear for it to be taught or shown...you only get to see it behind a glass cabinet at a museum rather than being able to play..

    Just a thought...

A local ham (amateur) radio club might also be interested in having it.

I know that when I was a member of a local club, we would have loved to have such an item of historical interest to add to our collection for display and promotional purposes.

Check the WIA (Wireless Institute of Australia) website at to locate one nearest your location.

    Hi guys,
    Well, what do you know...!!

Apparently the buyer collects those keys and he/she has been waiting A LONG TIME for a J38 to add to their collection...!

Some people collect stamps and some collect coins... LOL!
Just shows who's watching eBay... Must have had the Watch/Alert function for Morse+Key.

All good guys, and I'm glad that at least some part of that Morse Code collection goes to a good home

    Cheers,
    GT250.
