Hi all,
Has anyone ever had an issue carrying alarm panels on flights?
All luggage is x-rayed these days so was wondering would or could this cause any issues with corrupting data held on these boards.
Reason for asking is recently i traveled with a few V10 Challenger PCB's already programmed and all were default when arrived to site, then returning with the V8 PCB's i had removed in good working order to
find all corrupted with a similar fault, not default just scrambled text on the keypad.
Just scratching my head trying to figure out what happened... any ideas?

Well any idea how long a v10 would hold its programming powered down?
10+ pcbs all default after 2 weeks
V10's, as with any panel, should retain configuration indefinitely after being powered down... As for them being defaulted through the x-ray, maybe contact Interlogix and ask them? Were they all individually packaged in anti-static bags?
Laptops and also smartphones are well shielded to prevent RFI, just with small gaps for the antennas or they are integrated in the housing. This works in both directions.
A naked board is generally not, at least not the non RF components.
NAND flash memory is quite susceptible to X-Ray radiation.
Wrapping the boards in Aluminium foil is advised for travel.

Update: A deletion of features that work well and ain't broke but are deemed outdated in order to add things that are up to date and broken.

Interlogix said regarding memory retention that it 7 seven days is What is expected. You may get more as I have but 7 days is "guaranteed"
I had a special requirement for having at least 3 months, after programming the C10 and pre-building a number of kits.
They made a small board for me that had a battery holder for a CR123A battery. This would hold up the memory for an estimated 5+ years.
They were supplied as a non stock item at no charge.

Program a panel and leave it on the shelf for a couple of weeks and see if it retains its programming!!
From memory (mine.. not the panels) It drops users first then attached hardware then its own info.
You could save the programming to an SD card and restore it later. After all that's one of the reasons its there.

That's interesting. I've had a bunch of V10 panels offline for various reasons for extended periods of time that have retained data for months or years, but I can certainly appreciate that they could lose data in a short time-frame. Very easy to maintain a database backup on TITAN or CTPlus, default a panel and dump the database back in. Did Interlogix give you a part number for that board?
It was a non Stock Item made for a particular job.
Panels were installed in large converted containers, setup and programed. First one was flown to location and the rest were to be shipped hence the issue.
I too have had C10s hold programming for a long time period but they Interlogix will not say exactly how long it will hold it for. We were given seven days anything else was luck of the drawer.
V8s on the other hand.........
