The car types that are not suitable would be LED types.
Can't find any local ~ plenty on ebay out of EU (Osram 6453, Lucas LLB277)
I need to change light bulb to garage door lifter.
I have no luck with B&D.
I cant find anywhere the correct type of bulb.
Festoon style 24volts 15watts 44mm.
Does anyone know where I can buy.
These are similar to truck and car interior lights but no luck at
Supercheap auto, autobarn etc.
Also some car types are not suitable because they effect the frequency
from remotes and may not operate the open close function via remote. (so I am told).

surely a car / truck spare parts place or auto electrician can get hold of one ? try the Narva catalog as well
I got mine from Repco, they ordered in for me, make sure you get 2# at a time

am I crazy but did I just read that the bulb in a garage door opener affects the frequency ?? please explain ??
I think it may be only certain LED lights that affect frequency.
Although I saw a incandescent bulb for sale on ebay where the seller said NOT FOR USE GARAGE DOOR OPENERS.
.
I found at Repco 24volt 44mm length but not 15w. It is 21w.
I figure the wattage shouldn't be a problem if anything just a brighter light
which I would prefer. Even better just $2 each, so I ordered 2#
For $2 its worth the gamble. There is specific for garage door on local ebay for $29, which is a joke for a bulb.
Does anyone see an issue with using a higher wattage output??
I find it very hard to believe that putting a led bulb in a garage door opener changes the frequency of the device receiver because if thats the case then it is illegal on many fronts so this needs more investigation
What brand and model is it ? do you have any reason for saying this otherwise I say bullshit has arrived on austech
Shlocker, no problems. In my directions it says no LEDs, some thing to do with the remotes. Remember i chucked a set of remote ear phones i was using for the tv due to them stuffing the remote frequency

Ah ha so out came the spectrum analyser this I have to see , ok remote signal on 433mhz ok turn on led light . oh shit the spectrum is covered with wide band noise so much so that after further examination its flattening the remote signal completely . turn off led all works turn on led no go or all over the place , radiation drops off after about 15 meters to level that the receiver can handle input signal moved the antenna wire all around , some improvement but not much , cut wire down to quarter wave long quite a big improvement at the receiver, then sleeved the wire inside copper tube 1/8 and better still probably matching better and operated further away, but if you dont have a set of test gear like me just buy a incandescent bulb and not a waste of time cheers Don

I just put in the $2 bulb from repco. Its a Narva 24V 21w incandescent bulb (Don't know what G17 stands for)
Even though the specs say 15w, I dont think the extra 6 watts would cause any issues.
All good - does it's job for now.
These are courtesy lights, so they come on for a couple of minutes when the door is opened & closed.
The original only lasted 6 years, which is I think was too short, considering I don't know anyone else who has had to change one
and the fact that I have 20 year old car where internal (similar) bulbs have never been changed.
G17 would be the type of connector and size i.e type G at 17mm
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Mine seem to last only 4 years, am on my 4# globe now, must admit the last one was a phillips twisted fluro ? globe which worked ok
