Bandaid Rant

Anyone else have problems with bandaids these days.
As a senior these days it takes little to scrape the skin and bleed.
Usually just put some electrical tape on it and keep going.
When I want to use a bandaid the the problem starts
You could bleed to death trying to get them out of there packaging.

Ahhh the one handed band aid trick , no go for me , I gave up on it and now its toilet paper the best solution and cheaper . ie one box of band aids =a 18 pack of toilet paper , except in a pandemic

Happened to me not long ago.I installed a new stove and those edges are as sharp as a razor blade.
I cut my hand ,bleeding and the customer (80+years old)handed me a band aid and I struggled to open the thing when she handed me one,open.
How did she do that so fast.I found out on the end there is a flap you pull apart,lol.

Yes. Terrible things to open the packaging on.

They used to be very easy to use, but today......Ughhhh.

Instead of Bandaids, I make my own with a strip of Elastoplast and and a tiny piece of gauze or a small piece of cotton wool.

Don't forget to wash the wound and apply a little Methylated Spirits (alcohol) in order to kill any bacteria, which is inevitably present.

So How do you open the packet when you are leaking blood all over the floor with one hand only , Hmmmmmm then manage to put it in place and drink the meths at the same time lol

If it is only a finger cut, hold your arm up as high as possible.
I usually also manage to apply pressure to the cut or close it with the other fingers on that hand, leaving me plenty of time to figure out the best next procedure, which usually involves going to the bathroom for cleaning and disinfecting and tearing a sealed bandaid open with my other hand and teeth.

haha, I once cut through an artery in my wrist... Try making a phonecall on one of the old "pick up the receiver with one hand, and dial with the other" phones without spurting blood all over the floor. Freakin band-aid might have plugged it, if I jammed it in the artery... I ended up walking next door and asking them to phone... fark that was funny when she saw how much blood.

Old days you tore one end off and used the piece of thread to tear down the side.
Now tear top off nope, tear side off nope, tear side off then scream.
Eventually get bandaid out.

Speaking of band aids, I should have used one yesterday but didn't. I was cutting a small piece of wood on my mitre saw and was not careful when I started the cut. Piece of wood went flying and I suddenly found blood. Fortunately it was only as a result of the wood hitting the side of my finger which caused the nail to embed itself in the skin. I finished the job I was doing and, by then, it had stopped bleeding. Only woosies need bandaids.

All of the cuts I've had recently have been cutting/ slicing/ chopping to cook. If I can I only put a band aid on once I've stopped the bleeding, and that usually takes only a tissue and time.

And if any gets in the food? Well.....................it's a secret ingredient.
