Cool External Hard drive for Smart TV

Hi, I am trying to find a way to to store and play movie files through my Hisense smart tv. Preferably I would like to leave an external hard drive connected via usb into my Tv that I can transfer file wirelessly from my MacBook without moving the hard drive. Is this possible and if so what is the best hardware to purchase? Thanks

Set up a media server on your Mac and manage from there. I use Plex media server.

You can get wireless hard drives.

Might be easier to plug a usb hard drive into your modem/router and set up dlna.

You can download direct to the hard drive from your laptop/pc and access it on your TV via your network.

I have Seegate and Kingston. Just 1TB external drives. Both works fine.

Ok, Install those 1TB HDs into a USB cradle and plug it into a wireless modem/router and then set up DLNA. Very easy setup. (As suggested by hoe)

You will be able to stream, Upload, Download and store movies to be played on the smart TV.

I DL complete Tv series, Doco's & movies directly to the usb HD and later sit down and stream it to the TV's, Tablets etc. Works well.
