    Default DVD ripping for tablet

Got many frequent day stays in hospital coming up, and it might be nice to take a tablet loaded with some movies to watch to while away the hours.
Streaming is no option: mobile coverage in the hospital is very poor, and the abomination that is Netflix locally carries very few movie titles which interest me anyway.
I have a collection of DVD movies that would be great to rip to playable files. Looking for suggestions of proven applications that can reliably handle DVD ripping (figuring that the DVD publishers protect their product to prevent this sort of thing from happening)

Strange... what's wrong with the free WiFi (not sure what state you're in but the NSW & ACT hospitals I've been in all have it)?

I've always found it pretty fast too (most of the time), although you may need to use a VPN as they block access to some of the streaming sites.

But back on topic... I've tried a HEAP of different programs and now use MakeMKV exclusively...

It's still showing as in beta for some reason (legal reasons maybe?) but I've never struck a disc yet that it won't rip... err sorry... 'backup'.

    Totally concur.

It's been in beta for years. When it expires, get the latest beta key from here...

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.
