Knew him in the early days.

He died in early March.

His interest in electronics goes back to when he worked for (the original) Dick Smith Electronics

He purchased the company John Carr & Co Pty Ltd... which is where the Jaycar name came from (J. Carr).

Tandy Electronics and DSE were his main competitors and Jaycar has outlasted both.

I've been a long-standing customer of Jaycar's wholesale arm, Electus Distribution.

I'd guess there wouldn't be many electronics enthusiasts here (in Australia) who haven't been to a Jaycar store or one of the network of resellers.
