I find mygov one of the very few things of our government that work quite well.
Years ago when they had etax it was a nightmare, originally would run only on the dreadful Internet Explorer with a lot of hiccups and re-trys until it worked .
Last 1st July I did what they all say you should NOT do and filed my tax return straight on that day through mygov. No connection problems, instantly accepted, confirmation email shortly after and 2 weeks later I was buying nice stuff from my franking credits.
And not having to chase up on anything Medicare related keeps things simple.

Trouble is connecting in the first place. I had a really bad time when I did it. Most of the questions refused to accept accurate responses. I remember that I had to dig up a superannuation account that I hadn't used for many years. I am a super pensioner, but my numbers didn't match. Luckily I found an old concertina folder in the archives (read the mess under the house) that had old documents in it that satisfied them.
But yes, it seems to work well enough for a digital Australia Card.

No, you misunderstand. By "connecting" I mean getting linked to it in the first place that was the problem. It was ridiculous. Like most modern systems there is no one to talk to at the other end who can use those rarest of service commodities, initiative and common sense.
Using the thing now is easy....

My recent experience with mygov:
Had to add medicare to it. For some reason it accepted my passport details. When it came to my drivers licence it just gave a useless error message that meant nothing. Repeated it 3 times with same result. Started completely from scratch with exactly the same info and accepted...so frustrating.
Next was applying for covid relief for days I could not get to work (or get paid) due to border closures:
I needed a centrelink number.
I have never used centrelink so had to apply for a number which I did online. No acknowledgement it was received and 10 days later no reply. I still have no idea if I will ever get a number

Geez I laugh when I think back to the 'Australia Card' and the carry on about privacy etc and how everybody now hands over all sorts of information easily without asking questions and much of that is on the internet lol.
I've just been through a nightmare trying to link my medicare to MyGov. I already had a MyGov account setup, so that bit was OK.. then try an link the card. It goes through a bunch of obvious questions, Your name, address, birthday, card number, which person on the card (1) (2) etc... All good.. then it says click next if you still want to proceed.
It then seems to revert to the Medicare part, which asks many of the same questions again to validate your identification... except........
It asks for the number one person on the card birthday, which happens to be my wife.....
Then it asks for a mobile number, home number and work number... but doesn't specify if it wants yours, or the number one persons phone numbers.
Seeing as we're both retired and no longer have a home phone number, this leaves a lot of possibilities for filling in the numbers..
Tried it with wife's mobile and no home or work number... Not enough questions answered correctly
Tried my mobile and no home or work number... same again..
Tried with wifes mobile, old home number.. same again
wife's mobile old home number and her old work number.. still no good...
My mobile, old home number... ditto
It also asks for the last medical specialists name, that you saw... still not specifying person one or two..
So I tried to do it by phone... rang the number listed on the page.. followed the prompts and listened to 15 mins of crap about being friendly and not being an arsehole when you speak to them, and about covid testing, vaccinations etc.. etc.. etc...
35 mins later got an answer and was told I have the wrong department, she was the ATO person....
Googled for a Medicare contact number.. rang that.. listened to how easy it was to do all my stuff online via the MyGov instead of ringing... eventually got put in a queue to speak to an operator... 45 mins later I was speaking to an operator, told her what I wanted to do and she launched into a speech about "Just do it online via MyGov, it's easy..etc etc etc" finally got a chance the explain the problem with doing it online and she said OK, we can do it by phone.
10 minutes into answering questions again, verifying my details on MyGov I got cut off................................ fark....
I went out and had a smoke to calm down.... left it for a couple of hours (well kept getting we're too busy message anyway)
Tried again, via the Medicare number... 50 minutes later I was talking to an operator.. going through the questions..... there's ya problem right there..... My mobile number is what they wanted (which I tried anyway) but... also my mobile number for home and work numbers too....... FMD...
She sent me a linking code... 5 minutes later I had my Medicare linked to MyGov....
Yeah, so pretty straight forward really.... LOL

Great. Now they are talking about booster shots.
Nothing more pi$$es me off lately than the dribble and BS being fed to everyone to get a vaccination.
And the knowing that state borders are not guaranteed to be open by Christmas, or even when we reach a certain level of vaccinations, or only open to those that are vaccinated, is just as frustrating.
I have no idea where they are getting their vaccination figures from, but there are plenty of people around me, including myself, that are waiting until mid-late November to get our first (Pfizer).
And yet, many around me could be considered as essential/critical workers.

I think if it were up to ScoMo and his CSL buddies we would be giving AZ even to babies on the day of their birth.
I convinced my older son 24y/o (who doesn't live the us) to cave and get now AZ as he told me that Pfizer won't be available in Wollongong before mid November.
I wouldn't believe it at first but everything I tried confirmed his findings.
Just shocking.
Most ppl who accept the second class AZ would have already got it by now, vaccinations could dry up and the targets missed until sufficient numbers of mRNS vaccines finally become available.
ScoMo proudly announcing something like 50 million Pfizer 'secured' for next year, WTF we need them now, why are they still holding back, hasn't CSL earned now enough from this bottleneck?
We could have all been fully and highly effectively vaccinated by now and going around doing our things, if both Moderna and Pfizer had been approved as fast as Astrazenica and timely ordered.
...what I have been saying for months but most here disagreed with me and even called me, see my sig:

There is a big difference between ordering and actually getting delivery. Vaccines are no different than any other purchase.
Pfizer was offered to us as far back as July 2020 if I remember correctly but we got rude and turned it down.

Fool’s paradise
The opening up at 80% will be a disaster. The government has adopted the Singapore, Japan, Israel, Canada, US models for opening up when 80% are vaccinated will come back to bite us big time, with ICU’s being overwhelmed, mark my word.
The authorities have overlooked the fact that most in Australia are vaccinated with AZ whilst the overseas models have all used Pfizer and Moderna,
AZ is only 66% effective, a quarter who are in ICU had the AZ jab.
Pfizer is 96% effective after the 2nd jab
Moderna, produces double the antibodies. It’s the top performer. There again it wont be available for the over 60th.
So the over 60 are stuck with the AZ. Call it what you want, the decision is based on natural selection. The over 60 are not likely contribute much to the ATO coffins anyway..

Also might have something to do with the fact that the vast majority of AZ goes into the 60+ age group who are most affected by covid so will most likely be in ICU.
Bit of a classic case of statistics giving a skewed result.
Also I think you are comparing effectiveness of AZ 2 shots vs Pfizer 3 shots...hardly fair.

What bullsh!t...seriously. FEAR FEAR FEAR....
If this plan is so bad, why did the Premiers agree to it? As usual, the twin towers of lies have (once again) reneged on the deal that they themselves signed off on. Explain to me why you listen to liars. I can't figure out why Morrison does.
Why would the ICU's be overwhelmed? They weren't last time, and Covid alpha seemed to be far more deadly. We have this thing running rampant in NSW and less so in Victoria, yet we've only had 100 deaths. NSW and Victoria will eventually come out of this in a far better position than the states that want to keep their unnecissarily terrified populations shaking in the back of the closet.
I see Shorten (future PM once he's knifed Albo) and Andrews have concurred with the government. The country HAS to get back to business.....we can't just sit around shivering in our undies forever. You may want to, that's your choice.
We could, of course, take the NZ route and sign up to 'belt and road' and live in the Chinese debt trap. It's an option.
