WiiKey 2 Has Been Released, Need Installer Feedback

Hey Everyone,

As most of you know by now team WiiKey have released the mod, we are going to be stocking it but want some on the ground feedback on how it preforms. We have not done this before, but we need to get some fast feedback from installers to what they think about these chips.

We want to give away a single WiiKey 2 to three installers and get your feedback on how they perform compared to chips like D2Pro etc. This is not an offer for end users sorry, just for people that install the chips for a living.

So the first three installers that reply to this thread, we will express post you down a single WiiKey 2 chip the day we have them. All you need to do is install it preferably in a D2C2 or D2E console and give us your feedback on how the preformed and what you thought of the options in the config disk.

Id be happy to give one a go and let you know how it goes mate. If they work half as well as the old WiiKey they will be another great chip.

mate, am not an installer but have done a handful of wii's and am about to do my own D2C. If you dont hear back from any of the pro installers round here I would be happy to sus one out and let you know what I rekon.

okies installed and it works as it should , however at first I put it into a D2e , and there was some drive noise and clicking , nothing major , I am just picky . I believe it is a clk problem just like on the D2pro had . I then put in a d2pro into the machine and no noise . I then put the wiikey 2 into a d2c again working as it should , but this time no drive noise at all . Like I say I reckon a small clk timing problem between models or maybe a slight issue with the clk join on the rom mobo of the d2e (Did not go into it too much)
Overall the wiikey2 does everything it say on the tin and is a pretty good chip . However I will not say it is an excellent chip until I have used a few more

The wii-key2s I have work fine so far, tried one in a D2E and a few in D2C various flavors. SSBB worked fine in both but i tested both DVD9 version and DVD5 version. The DVD5 version failed to play, but that is the same with D2PRO, the dvd9 version works fine.

All in all its a good chip and cheaper than d2pro.

i have not seen any evidence of clicking, so far I am pretty happy with them, though I have only done 5 or so, people are still asking for d2pro even with the price difference, I only received my shipment from my supplier on Monday.

I found one other problem with them
mind you it may only be the chip I used , I will try some more . but in D2A/B models patched games would not boot . Other games on the same media would be fine . Patched games would boot to the select screen and just hang from there

The D2pro has built a name for itslef but is so over-rated....random lock-up of drive is still occuring, but have not seen it happen on the Wiikey V2 yet...but have not used as many so i guess its not a fair comparison just yet

Just wanna give a big thanx to mod supplier for giving me one to try

Received it last week some time and installed it yesterday on my D2C console. Very easy chip to install (especially when you use all the points on the underside of the board) and worked first go (as they should)

Wish I could give more rounded feedback but thats about it... I installed the chip, it worked straight up and I have tried games from multi regions and all have worked flawlessly (about 6 or so) Ill keep trying more and if I have any hassles ill put it up here.

As an aside, I read on the wiikey site this morning that a 6 wire version of this chip is currently being tested

Hey Ozchips, could the patched games not booting be simply due to the console running 3.3E ?

Patched games need a firmware with the exploit in it. If your firmware is not compatible with the exploit it will not work regardless of what chip is used.

SSBB DVD5 is patched and hence does not work on firmware that has been fake-signed blocked.

the machine was not 3.3
but I am lead to believe it may be a glitch wit hthe machine itself , I just tried another one (same chip in case) and different machine and no problems . Will reinstall once again in the other machine and see what happens
