Nobody really knows what the figure is, but if one were to speculate a figure of 10billion as being 'too many people', then a war that kills people will be a good thing, for the planet, for other non-human life on the planet, and ultimately for mankind itself. Forget about 'everybody' if you're just referring to human beings, because their -numbers- will be the problem, not sociopolitical wranglings. Fortunately, I'll be dead before this tipping point is reached (unless we're already there? =)

Regarding war economy, I really think the CCP are looking at this -> "War is often used as a last ditch effort to prevent deteriorating economic conditions or currency crises, particularly by expanding services and employment in the military, and by simultaneously depopulating segments of the population to free up resources and restore the economic and social order."
No, what you are saying is old worldly.
The idea to wipe out swaths of people to make a "better world" was Hitler's pet project and many others before him, including the Christian religious crusades.
Overpopulation was relative, for Hitler the world was overpopulated with Jews.

The problem we currently have is that economical systems can only grow if there is population growth.
When the most populated country in the world decided for a one child policy they backflipped to avoid an economic reversal.

IMO we have already reached the limit of population sustainability but humans always come up with new solutions.
That is exactly what Future Industries are all about and what I tried to explain in the other thread.
Overpopulation > hunger, poverty, environmental disasters(codename: climate change) > smart people > find solutions without a reset using wars.

The only REAL solution is to wipe out religions that basically all tell their followers to go out and multiply like rabbits and have a government controlled birth control system to allow population grow within an economically healthy but sustainable level until we can start to populate other planetary bodies.
CCP may be capable of that, Muslims and Indians not on their own.
Maybe Afghanistan could be an experiment for China.
