Looking for clues -- anyone else here get this SMS spam?

Yeah, I'm getting a hell of a lot DHL spam bullshit. Probably thee or four per day, not to mention the other "left message" spam and then there is the robo callers.
I just keep blocking them and they keep coming.

I wonder how long before somebody sets up a crowd fund to bounty hunt scam employees and have stand over men put the fear into them.

I have now officially received more spam (on the phone) from the UAP than any other source,

I'd block the number, but I kinda enjoy seeing twits like this trying to gain support by becoming an annoying spammer ...which pretty much everyone hates...I think?..

....unless of course the voters they're after, enjoy spam?

The voters they are after are the disaffected, of which there are an increasingly large number. They don't have a large budget, let alone taxpayer funds for their lies. I guess they think people will take notice, which they do, it's just that it pisses them off rather than sways them.

I understand on blocking numbers when a visible number is displayed.
But, how do you block the number when there is no number; only has "UAP"?

It's interesting and unfortunate that ACMA, AEC and mobile phone providers are unable to act on the unwanted messages.

I'm sure, given time, some copycat spammers will use a similar message that may see some vulnerable people click on a so-called Electoral Voting and cause them some grief.

What phone is that? What messaging app?....no way do I get a preview, in fact, I don't see the original message unless I tap the 'view' widget.

About that - did some checking, and it is indeed the google messaging app flagging these SMS texts as spam, which is kind of interesting, because as I suspected, telcos in AU aren't permitted to block such political messages, provided they aren't of a 'commercial' gain.

I think the google app is reacting to multiple reports from users calling the SMS as bad (spam). I'm pretty sure they're not vetting it by originating phone# as they use multiple fake/spoofed numbers, so it's a bit like whack-a-mole ; they must be vetting it by keyword content.

Lots of threads on reddit about this activity, and it's not the first time the UAP has caught flack for this sort of thing.

If data is off, it comes up as a plain message.
If data is on, it provides the image above.

I also use "Caller ID and Spam Protection" setting.
There are two methods to activate it.

1. Messages, select "Settings", "More Settings", then "Caller ID and spam protection".
2. Phone, select "Settings", then "Caller ID and spam protection".
I don't share name and number.

Thanks, at a guess it's whatever samsung uses for default messaging app - my asus x00pd shipped with it's own messaging app as well, which I must've found objectionable enough to install the google default...<shrug>,,,I cannay remember =)

You prompted me to do a tiny bit more digging ~ there's no malicious payloads or anything else nefarious to be found (android), if one -does- click on the link, which tosses to default browser (for me, chrome) ... all good, get your annoying dose of UAP shill without fear.

However, it would seem I'm absolutely wrong hypothesizing it was google messaging app users causing the spam flag-fall here, because when going into relevant settings, I see ;

Lol...right, ah-HA!...it's my phone -- it's builtin AI holds a differing political view than that of the UAP, and thus flags all messages from them as spam. Makes you wonder what this AI would do, if other political parties tried on the same SMS activity ; would they be flagged as spam as well? Interesting stuff..

The very technology they're using to do this, is calling them out =)

Not from DHL but I've been getting SMS supposedly from freight companies, as you say, up to half-a-dozen per day and all from different numbers. I was blocking the numbers at the beginning but it does no good, they just keep coming from different numbers.

They're all more or less the same thing...

I've never clicked on any of the URLs supplied, but they've all been from completely different domain names.

But I'm really starting to GTS about the whole thing, there's not much point reporting them to anyone with all different phone numbers, all different URLs and so on, but if someone could tell me where to find the prick who keeps sending them I would happily travel to 'meet' them!

Hmmm....I'll have to go do a bit of digging and see if under 18s are getting hit with it ; if not, then it infers they're leveraging the electoral role to paint targets.
