    Default Speed cameras

Yesterday I drove from Blakehurst to Hurstville (Sydney) on King Georges rd and saw an unmarked speed camera car parked on the lawn-strip next to the road.
I got booked years ago for the same offence doing a kitchen renovation and there was no side street to park.
So is it legal to park on that grass strip?
And this is a private car not a police car.

its a "DO AS I SAY NOT AS I DO" situation. They are allowed to park anywhere they like.

Not quite "anywhere they like" they must be parked in compliance with road rules.

They do have certain exemptions, parking on nature strips is one of them.

The camera cars are operated by a third party contractor.

Don't speed and you won't have a problem......

    I'm sorry gulliver, I couldn't help myself...

The parasites are everywhere....not much tax revenue coming in atm.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

At least I got booked by a copper sitting in the middle of the Stuart Highway hundreds of miles from anywhere. On a Sunday afternoon of all times.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

It's one of the exemptions I mentioned.

If the vehicle is parked in a compliant manner, it's permitted.

i.e. not hindering access to pedestrians, wheelchair access on the footpath. etc.

Yeah, it's different from state to state obviously (the wording, not the intent), but I doubt very much anyone could effectively argue it in law....ie; the camera snapped the vehicle speeding, and that would have happened if the camera unit was parked on the footpath or road, so even if you could argue the camera unit was illegally parked, that'd likely end up in 2 fines ...one for the driver speeding, one for whoever parked the camera unit there ... + court costs =)

Just another thing to make you feel powerless in society.
What keeps me going is knowing that should society turn to shit very quickly, you would not want to be one of the people who were considered to be parasites in the previous community.

Parking cops will be seeking refugee status in Afghanistan under the Taliban because the nationalist mob in Australia threatens them with being dragged behind a holden at Mt Panorama and making a it a public holiday.
Speed camera operators drowned in septic tanks.
And the exodus of lawyers from the shores of Australia will be amazing as most of them attempt to swim the torres strait fleeing to PNG.
Yeah, I'm getting the feeling of how good it must feel to be a Taliban leader at the moment. The people who pissed you off can share the love
MLC's burned alive in tanning beds. Fire is too good for them.
Members of PETA and Greenpeace rounded up and ........

Ah, being charged with crimes against humanity, in my dreams
Yes I am an agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.
