Hello hello.
I hope I haven't left grumbles behind the last time I was here. Which was I have no idea when ! :\
Anyway: suddenly today my bloody Oppo stopped doing anything. When I swipe up to open the screen, all that happens is that it tells me
"camera is in use"
and the lock symbol is, like, locked.
I wrote to Oz support, explaining that I can do nothing except receive calls; and they wrote back some hours later asking me to do four very specific things, every one of which required me to be able to operate the phone.
I can't ascertain ANY of the facts they want. I tell them I bought it brand new in July, and that it cost me AUD388, but that doesn't help.
I don't suppose any of you have heard a bell ring in your head about this INFURIATING circumstance ?
Apart from the sheer horribleness, I'm in the middle of trying to move house !!!

Have you tried turning it off and on again ?

But MTV, I'm trying to move house !!
I can't be without it.

Hoe, I have tried.
I don't think it worked.
But I shall have another go. Thanks !

Nup. I can't turn it off. I think I'll bust out crying.

1: Turn off the phone Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons together for at least 8 seconds, until the phone enters Recovery Mode. On the Recovery mode screen, tap [Reboot].
otherwise do a firmware update

Thank-you, but I can't do that. It alternates between simply shutting off (meaning screen-black) and showing me that same infuriating message of "camera in use", with scraps of what I've missed ..

I'd just let the battery run down until the phone turns itself off if you can't do anything else. In the "bad ole days" I'd just remove the battery. Once fully discharged and off, you can then re-charge it and hopefully convince it to be a phone again.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
My dear ! - how nice to see your name come up.
Friends across the hall have just returned it to me having FIXED IT ! Yaaaaaaaaay !
Apparently it was something to do with facial recognition having got itself into a loop, so that when I swiped up I was swiping up on top of swiping up.
You don't get it ?
How strange .. [grin]
Will everyone who was kind enough to respond see this, d'you think ?

Thanks from the heart to all the old faithfuls (but none as old as I !) who took the time to read and even respond !! - I love yous all.
So does Jeff Fenech.
All's well, except for the fact that Oppo support is totally useless ..
