Default Interfacing using a USB to RS232 board

I have a music box that can be connected to a PC via its serial port.
    See the photo below.

The 8-pin DIN plug on the left goes to the music box.
The 9-pin D-sub on the right connects to the PC.

I want to use a USB to serial board instead of the 9-pin D-sub connector, as my PC doesn't have a serial port.

I've started to make up the cable, but I'm not sure about one of the connections.
Pin 2 of the 8-pin plug needs to go to RTS, but the USB adaptor board doesn't have this - it only has DTR.

I've tried to research if DTR and RTS are the same thing (in this instance) and now I am just confused.

Will I be able to make this work?

I use a premade USB to serial converter regularly.
It has a PCB in it that does the conversion, so I dont think just a stright through connection will work.

+1 for the ATEN USB Port - to -Serial Port Converter.

There's a lot of dodgy USB to serial cables around, but I've always had success with the Aten cables.
