    Default Asiasat 5 (100.5) problem

I have relocated to Melbourne a C band dish (mesh 2.3m + almost brand new LNB) that worked fine in Sydney. It has been a few months but now I am getting the same values as before in Sydney (98 strength and 62 quality) but the image on any channel (any transponder really) is quite choppy and unstable. I checked the slew and no trees blocking the way. I spoke to a technician and he told me that C band is about to die and that the signal is poor no matter. Is that true ? I know that IPTV will eventually fully take over but is this issue because c band is obsolete ? Thank you for your comments and opinions. Rick

You are seeing the T.I caused by 5G there is a few things you can do to get around it such as filtered LNBF bigger dish etc
AV-comm has a paper on it here

You need a 5G LNB from 3.625 Ghz to 4.2Ghz

How is Taiwan these days ?.... In Australia 5G at 3.650 and another at 3.695 GHz is used between the telco towers. The harmonics effect overwhelms any 3.7 to 4.2GHz LNB. The 5G filter become ineffective. The narrow band LNB's 3.8 to 4.1Ghz are they only once to effectively defeat the interference.

I had to install not only 5G 3.625 - 4.2GHZ lnb but also Norsat Bandpass filter on my Thaicom 78.5 dish. It was being hammered as it had a direct LOS to the cell phone tower less then 100m away from my platform. My AS5 dish I only need the 5G LNB's atm one for V and one for H. My Loastar 128 C of course I lose the channels from 3.4 - 3.625 GHZ so had to setup another dish in Cambodia for a client who wants some of the channels to streamed for their IPTV Service in the USA.

Taiwan is pretty safe, only a few Wuhan Virus cases and life goes on pretty much as normal. People wear masks and think nothing of it and most people got vaccinated once vaccines were available and booster shots now available for those who want them.
