    Default Alec Baldwin Kills Woman

I wonder how this will go...accidental probably, but Wow...

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

The woman who died was the director of photography/cinematographer/camera operator.

The injured man is the director.

That will certainly have an impact on the production.

I guess it was a terrible accident, at least I hope it was. Not sure how Alec will cope with this too for the rest of his life.

Remember seeing a movie when during filming blanks were replaced by real stuff - but that was done deliberately to kill one of the leading actors.

I wonder how such an "accident" could happen. The American preoccupation with bang sticks seems to allow such accidents to occur too often. I'm not sure that Baldwin is guilty of anything other than being the poor bloke who pulled the trigger. I wonder if someone confused live ammo with the blanks or confused a real gun with a prop.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Sometimes real guns are used as props especially because gun nutters want to see the authenticity in close ups.
One would think they must be always checked that they are armed with blanks before an actor can pick them up and the actor informed with diligence that he is holding a real gun.

Personally I would never trust anybody giving me a real gun telling me that it is only holding blanks. I only ever owned and used blank guns and air rifles when I lived in Germany.

Fatal accidental shooting is actually quite rare even in the USA compared to homicidal and suicidal shootings. So it is very questionable how the photo director could have been killed if Baldwin didn't directly aim the gun and at her and why he did that.
It is hard not see him being at least partly guilty.

Yes blanks replaced with real bullets in acting scenes has been used numerous times in movies and TV series, last time I remember was in the SciFi TV show Brave New World.

Either he a lousy shot or the scene required him to shoot directly at the camera.

No, just a lousy shot. Otherwise he would have only killed the camera and they ARE pretty big.

The movie was set in the 1880's . This would not be a modern weapon.

This is the best rule to follow in real life. Not the case in cinematography though.
Like they say if you see gun hanging on a wall in the first act then be rest assured the gun will fire in the third act. Finale.

news reports this morning is that the gun was being used for target practice earlier in the day .... probably explains the live round left in the chamber. Still , someone should have asked , someone should have checked. easy to do in hindsight .. I feel sorry for everyone involved.
I managed large construction jobs back in the day , and no matter how many procedures I put in place it was impossible to micro manage everything . But , being the PM i was held responsible if anything went wrong . and it did from time to time.

I never liked the guy. As an actor sure, but he's a woke champion and a firm believer in cancel culture.

Unless it's his friends like Woody Allen who are targeted of course, then the typical hypocrisy of such people kicks in.

He sure cancelled the artistic director....

'Younguns' here would not remember the old TV show "Combat!". The lead actor was "Vic Morrow".
A few years later, he was in a movie, where the Director was constantly taking many risks, and was very demanding on set.
In the end, a Helicopter crashed on set, and the blades decapitated Vic Morrow's head off, and also killed 2 young kids as well !!!
The damn director was never found guilty of anything though of course! Loved that show, and that guy !!
