Unaohm AP 301 HD - VAST Viewing
Hi All,
I am currently using a Unaohm AP301 HD to tune a dish to the VAST sat - Optus C1.
I am hoping that someone can tell me if there is any particular frequency on that satellite that can be viewed visually on this device? I have used this a few times to locate the satellite but it would be great if I could visually see on the screen a working service. I am not sure if this is possible of not.
On the spectrum analyser I can see good signal strength and normally if I was working with normal digital TV at that point I would press the DIGI button and it comes up with the lock and shows the MER etc etc. When I am in sat mode it doesn't lock or show any info other than it has a mode of DVBS and Symb.R. of 28588
I am assuming that I can see anything as it would be encoded? Is there anything on this sat that doesn't need to be decoded that might work?
Cheers,

It is a miracle! I made it work! I found a menu that lets me select a specific satellite. It then allows me to go through the preprogrammed modes for that satellite. I managed to find a VAST service that has 34 programmes on it. The first two are viewable being VAST Info channel and the second one being Optus TV information. I can view both which is great.
Details:
Frequency - 12647
LO - L01
PR - 95
PRG - 1
PS - 0010
P.ID. - 0801
Volts - 13VDC
Mode - DVBS2
Symb R - 30000
Code - 3/5
Spect - Inv
Question time:
What should the BER, MER etc etc be for a good signal?
Currently:
CH BER - 1.93e-03
BCH BER - 0.00e-08
NM - 1.7dB
MER - 8.6dB
SNR - 8.7dB
EVM - 37.3%
PWR Index - Low
CFO - 2.5
RU - 0
This doesn't mean a whole lot to me... The bar graphs on the screen don't look the greatest so I expect the above values aren't good...
Your tuning is correct. I use those two unencrypted channels.
VAST is very picky with alignment.
Your figures are a tad low, but not bad.
Minute LNB skew adjustment should improve those figures, followed by minute dish alignment.
The post-viterbi (BCH BER) is showing 0 errors after correction, which is what you need.
To simplify... use the bar graphs to obtain the highest figures.

Thanks for the confirmation mate. Much appreciated. Sat has always been a bit of a dark art for me. Just fake it till I make it.....
