Default Society to end in 2040

At the behest of Unco Fester i have given this topic a new thread
May the arguments, err discussions commence

All my nephew and nieces refer to me as Unco, don't know if they are trying to tell me some thing

Went through all that in the 70s then the 80s. I believe it when it happens.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

    Blah..blah..blah...We're ALL GOING TO DIE!!!

Society began dying with the invention of social media in my view.....we wound back scientific education in favour of non scientific "inclusive boogaboo", and gave the crazies an open forum.

Now we are simply reaping the rewards.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

Lsemmens, the 70's was about an incorrectly perceived oil crisis and otherwise 'end of world' theories, not the decline of society. The world will still exist and humans will still inhabit it only under very suppressed conditions.
I think that our society has already peaked.

Then main reason is that worldwide democracy is failing and dictatorships are uprising.
If I were to single out one cause then that would be due to the misuse of technology like social media but of course there is a lot more.
Knowledge is acquired with 'hearsay' in Facebook and Youtube, NOT peer reviewed publications. This dumbing down is inciting right wing extremism
which is growing worldwide, hence leading to dictatorships.

When I hear what my youngest son tells me from high school, almost all students are now glued to their dumbphones.
The Females on Tiktok and the males are mostly watching youtube videos of others playing video games, no even capable of playing themselves any more.
These kids are our future and how easy are they now to mass control.
This wasn't the case with my older son some years ago, they were still creative enough to play their own games and social media was not the dominant activity.
There was still some interaction with the real world.
The standard of education has been continuously in decline making it even easier for dictators to take control.
For example the most popular president candidate currently in the Philippines is the son of their former dictator Marcos.
It is like all the voters have not had history in school or this history has been suppressed by their government.

Then we have a decadent USA military that is in decline. It was 'supposed' to be keeping world piece in check.
And what a joke with our submarines that might be available in 20 years if we can finally decide on a contract.
By 2027 China will have so much power they will just march into Taiwan and take control of almost all the microchips that our society needs to 'thrive'.

So like the fall of the great empires in the past we are not REALLY growing any more due to decadence.
The growth of our economies is now determined by reselling the same realestate properties over and over again for an ever increasing price
    rather than real productivity.
The whole Internet is now only there to data mine everybody's behaviour so the are tricked to buy pointless stuff they don't need.
Governments are just too busy with the surveillance of everybody's life.

Now add to that mix a virus that will never end and has turned the world upside DOWN, economically, politically and mentally.

It's just a variation on a theme. yes, most "civilised" societies in history only had a lifespan of a few hundred years. which does indicate that we are due for a "Correction", however, it is unlikely to be such a huge shift from same ole same ole in such a short amount of time. we're only talking about 20 years here.

Modern technology has proven to change things much faster than lets say at the time of the Roman empire.

Yep, and on the flip side, Modern Technology has the ability to bring it all crashing down much faster as well, especially in the hands of some of the miscreants who already have it.
    Cheers

Society (Civilisation) will end ... When the Sun goes out.
If Australia is a democracy why, then, is voting compulsory?

"What has changed between the arrival of the First Fleet and today?"
"Wearing leg irons is now not required."

No it won't. The sun is set to enlarge and engulf Earth before it pops and you only have 4 Billion years to stop it!
