Was that only a temporary thing for the Christmas period or has it been going for a while and they've only just decided to pull up stumps?

It's a pity I didn't know about that earlier... would've saved me a pile of money from ripoff US sellers.

I didnt know about that Austpost service either. Typical of them to remove services that get in the way of profit . I hate US postage charges i do have to pay occaisonally as i restore old Jeeps and sometimes getting parts from USA is the only way.

anything that i bring in from the USA gets shipped via Fedex , the slowest part of the journey is when the parts arrive in AU. And ive looked into getting a Fedex account , they wont give me one unless i bring in a lot off stuff regularly.
maybe try DHL - i bring stuff in from India and thier service is amazing. Again they wont give me an account but they are so cheap i wouldnt bother , i just pay the seller and i dont care if he gets a commission out of it.

USPS appear to be contracting DHL for the overseas stuff at the moment but as you say, parcels seem to go into limbo for a week or more with them as well once it's in-country. It seems to happen in the handover to AusPost but it might be a customs thing too?

But yeah, no complaints about DHL's service or prices. One carrier I try to avoid out of the US is RR Donnelly, everything I've had shipped through them must come on a slow boat or something as I'm normally looking at 5 or 6 weeks in transit.

For purchases in the US, I get them sent (usually free) to a mate in TX, and he sticks them in a DHL satchel and dispatches to my address here in AU -- I pay him a redback for his trouble + the DHL costs, and it's always cheaper doing it that way (plus the items get here in under two weeks =)

Yes, this can get delayed at AU customs by 4-7days

    Call 13 26 10.... >>>
Ask them to email you a "remote pick up request" you fill the form and email it back... 5 days later the item is in your door.
They are not cheap but you can ask for a discount.
