Default former employer spam texting me

    Hi All

I have been in a new role with a new company for the past 4 months, the former employer had me on an SMS list that sends out a notification of the customers details etc if calls where missed on their service desk.
I have now notified them 6 times requesting to be taken off the sms register. this last time i contacted a senior manager within the company. there is no way to block the sms without blocking other content such as bank mfa notifications etc.

in the last contact i mentioned they are breaching customer confidentiality by sending this to a former employee. doesn't seem to have made a difference.

basically the sms messages are surrounding the phone SLA they have strict SLAs arround call pickup times and it shows how many agents are logged into their phone systems and how many are ready when the call was missed. (basically did the service desk just ignore the phone call) the issues with their service desk management and more over lack there of is the large contributing factor for me leaving them as i was sick to death of having to answer password reset requests as one of their senior systems engineers who specialise in linux because the service desk where to busy having a non work related banter chat than answer the phone.

anyway my new position is exclusively linux, pays double what i was on and i start later in the day and work from home so i do not appreciate getting woken up by an sms in the morning saying they didn't answer a phone call and how many agents ignored the phone call.

What can i do in this case because it is getting to the point where it is distracting my new job (having these stupid sms messages coming through in meetings)
I have been tempted to start forwarding these sms messages to their customer CDM so they get heat from him about the missed calls, they may actually make an effort to remove me.

otherwise is their some legal route i can take like get a solicitor letter to desist ? i this may be a bit of bad blood and some what intentional at this point because they where very unhappy that i was leaving as they lost my skillset and it was hard to replace going by what i have heard from other employees as they where under paying me.

turn your phone off over night. If youre not being paid, turn it off!! NO ONE works 24/7.

    I'll edit it a bit.....

Last job I had I was a on call field network engineer (well thats what they call me, I was the trouble shooter for a statewide network).

The network was monitored 24/7 by our friends in India, Their role was to report system outages to me and if possible I would handle it remotely or, worst case, driver to uppercomebucktonowhere and reset a router or switch.

It was NOT important that a site was down. It could be fixed whenever (within 24/48 hours) captured data was cached, and the system was not live at that stage.

These MoFo's, sorry our indian brothers would call me all night at all hours "oh goodness gracious mr porkop, site 112388 is down" ,"please excuse me, we can not reach site 776883" and so on 11pm 3am 230 am they didnt care, it was midday in Delhi.

Well, this was soon put to a stop when I told management straight up "Tell these knuts to stop calling me and waking my family, send an email, I will deal with it in the morning".

    Guess what. The calls stopped.

And also, guess what. I left that job and months later, they were still calling me for help....go and FCNK yourself.

but as to your issue, turn your phone off.

Just call those customers and tell them their contact details are freely distributed around by your old employer. Let's see how long before they stop bothering you.

+1 ...and these folks will present you with options of recourse as well, but as mtv points out, there's a need to document your case, and a perceived etiquette to follow wrt your complaint submission.
