Ryobi + one Battery

I have some Ryobi one drills etc and need a couple of new batteries and was surprised how much they are

so I was wondering has anyone tried any aftermarket ones such as ebay

Also, if you have batteries from other brand tools you can use them with adaptors.. also on ebay.

I bought a 5Ah eBay battery about 12 months ago.

For most things (power drill, pole pruner, work light and air compressor), it is functionally the same as my geniune 5Ah battery. In the line trimmer, which exhausts a 5Ah battery in 15 minutes, it has the same or even slightly longer run time as the Ryobi battery, but the line trimmer doesn’t go quite as fast, so the eBay battery seems to have higher internal resistance.

The LED charge indicator behaves slightly differently and it doesn’t click in or out of the charger as nicely as the real one.

Given the huge difference in price though (and that I now have a petrol brush cutter), I’d happily buy another eBay one next time.

for one third the cost , those black colour Ebay batteries are all i use . i will not pay Ryobis ripoff price for new batteries ever again.

Have you thought of pulling apart the shell and replacing the batteries? Have just done it with a Paslode nail gun batteries (they are hopeless), will have to do it with 36 v Bosch batteries in the future. Plenty of "how to's" on YouTube!
The benefits are that you can also increase the out put as well

A Makita pack usually only has one or two cells that fail out 6-8, the others are usually good
