My niece who is 16 spent 2 weeks in IC unit in Monash Hospital in Melbourne on oxygen. Nearly died. About 1 month ago.
My stepfather has been in hospital for over 2 weeks and just out, still very week but unexplained. Not covid, but they suspect a severe reaction to Pfizer.
I am NOT an anti vaccer, but have avoided mRNA vaccines so far and got 3 x Astra Zeneca.
AZ is a viral vector vaccine, a type of vaccine we have used for decades where as mRNA vaccines have never been rolled out large scale. I would take Pfizer if there was no other choice, but I don't see the point of being a guinea pig if I don't have to.
I have enough problems as it is.
Well if everything goes to plan you'll be getting the Moderna vax included in your annual flu shot.

I am double vaxed and boosted
Astrazeneca
Astrazeneca
Moderna
Have not had the Covid as far as I know
Lots of people in my area are getting Covid .... it may or may not be only a matter of time before I get it too
some people are getting covid multiple times (look at the today show hosts on channel 9) ... so the vaccine just makes you less likely to getting very sick or die ... I guess
but if you have had Covid too I think you build up a better resistance to Covid ... and eventually we all get so restistant to covid it is no longer a problem ?

I'll stick to the standard flu shot I think. Well by the time the above actually comes out they might have done something in regards to looking at the side effects from mRNA vaccines over the course of the pandemic. It's a huge risk rolling out something that has never been tested large scale, let alone in the middle of a global pandemic.
In my opinion, there would be 10 x the amount of side effects compared to AZ. Unfortunately politics played a big part in what we got, AZ was a gift to the world (non profit) and was only costing $3 per vaccination. However a certain political group thought they would try and discredit the government with a "you picked the wrong vaccine" crap campaign which is as disgusting as it gets. They were either keen to play politics with peoples lives or they all had shares in a certain other vaccine company called Pfizer who charge $35 a hit. That hit of course is in the taxpayers pocket. And now the certain political party wants to complain about debt.
I will be avoiding mRNA vaccines for a few years until they better understand them and have studied the side effects. A lot of people, if not most, that I know who had Pfizer had a range of side effects. It's unfortunate that certain individuals did their best to discredit AZ. I think the fact that in the UK at Wimbledon they all stood up and applauded one of the women who developed the AZ vaccine says it all. All we did was boo it. It was both disgusting and not surprising that the media did all it could to hide cases of severe side effect with Pfizer, while reporting if someone farted who had AZ.
Sadly its yet another case that gives you less and less confidence in the media and what you get told.

Going back to who has had it, I think I did get it. About 8 months ago I was really crook but strangely only for one day. I was hot/cold shaking when I went to bed and was so sick I couldn't sleep.
So I made myself a concoction that would knock out an elephant and eventually it did it's job. Strangely, when I woke up I felt fine. It was very strange.
My wife works in aged care and still has not got it. That's despite the facility being locked down on numerous occasions for outbreaks with both staff and residents.
I have to see my GP every 12 days but rarely actually see him because he wont physically see me most of the times because of my wife's work. They are a small Medical Centre ( 3 doctors) and he is not prepared to take the risk of getting infected, so we get a Telehealth consultation and the scripts get sent electronically to the chemist who then drop them at the door and ring the doorbell.
Safe to say my stepfather will not be having an mRNA vaccine again. If that is what's caused it, and Doctors believe it is, another dose would kill him. They have been taking a very keen interest and have performed so many tests its crazy, so at least they appear to be taking side effects seriously and are studying them.
Edit : I am not sure if anyone has noticed, but China has been in severe lockdown for at least 2 weeks. Some major cities, bigger than our population, are in lockdown.
I wouldn't be surprised to see it go off again here in winter.
Never had a 'flu shot, can't ever remember the last time I had the 'flu...at least 30years ago...Well if everything goes to plan you'll be getting the Moderna vax included in your annual flu shot.
Have yet to see the flu shot for this year. been double Rasta with pfizer booster here. So far, so good!
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
Daughter and the boyfriend are over it. She's still a little croakey, but well on the mend and back to work next week.

people seem to be having side effects with both Az and Phiz so I don't think it matters which you have too much. But it seems Az isn't quite as effective with a lower efficacy.
China's current issue might be their ching chong sino vax just isn't up to the task. There will be a lot more cases here over winter but I'd be very disappointed if the govs here tried to lock down again!
I work in aged care as well and we've had outbreaks but we've contained them quite well. Residents symptoms have been minimal and most have had 3rd vax so the vax works. I've not caught it but I'm sick of donning and doffing ppe lol.
Hmmm...you can't believe a word out of China. Certainly their claytons vax (I wish we didn't call ANY of them vaccinations, because they're not) isn't up to par. My family have had a variety of mixes of vax's. One reacted really badly to fizzer, and another had bad reactions to moderna...those like me who have the AZ/fizzer boost mix fared best which seems to be common, although my second youngest daughter did catch it. She manages a large cafe and has always been more exposed.
I dunno if I'll have another booster, unless it comes out of a bottle....

Here you go, someone I know in SA shot me an email describing his recent (week ago) experience -- he's a very fit fellow, but prone to get colds/'flu anyway regardless of 'flu shots...wrt covid, he double dosed + 1 booster ...didn't stop this happening to him...
"Well, this is the first time I have been able to sit on a computer. A
quick summary of events so you can read it from somebody that is
cold/flu compromised and who then gets COVID:
Being a hermit type of guy, I think I either picked this up at Harris
Scarfe on Sunday 27 March when I bee lined it into this store to buy
new shoes and thongs (and I avoid shopping centres, but it was an
emergency), or from an interstate auditor who visited my work place
for a couple of hours on Tuesday morning (29 March). Depending on the
strain, incubation time is about 3 days for Omicron, and 4 days for
Delta, and 6 days for the earlier strains, with outliner for 14 days.
End of the day, I have not been around people for the past 3 weeks
other than my coworker. So, it was easy to pin point.
Last Tuesday (29 March) after work, I was feeling flabby due to lack
of sailing. So did my usual 7km ride "up the hill" This is a good solid
hill climb on the mountain bike, and good for the heart. This is easy
for me. There are bigger/steeper hills I ride up. When I reached the
top of the circuit, I was more puffed out than normal. I put it down to
lake of fitness. Too many beers, the good life, too much chocolate,
not enough sailing, lack of sleep etc.
Wednesday, I go sailing....
First run, I fall in (massive board, and small sail. Wind died half
way through a gybe), and was in the water doing a water start. This
knackered me when it shouldn't have. I got back to the beach, and I
was puffing and knackered. Man I was unfit.
Thursday, same ride as Tuesday. It nearly killed me. I was having very
mild chest pains, which I never get. Now I'm thinking something is
up... but I was trying to think what ??
Friday Afternoon (1st April), I got a sore throat, and started feeling
off, I knew then it could probably be COVID. So, I knocked off work,
and got tested.
It's been like a very very nasty cold when it takes hold (ie not
resting up, on the piss etc). Last Friday night was raging sore throat
and painful sinuses (eye sockets), and joints. Heart was twitching a
bit. Water would pass through me. I was using a product called
Hydralite which is a good sports drink tablet (1 tablet of this stuff,
and I won't dehydrate in a hot wetsuit), but even this product could
not keep up. and I could not sleep.
Saturday, I was ####ed. Could not think (if this is what they call
"brain fog", then it's situation normal for me when I get a cold). I
was a zombie. Sore back, sore throat. I just flopped on the arm chair
and stayed there. My sister dropped around Zinc tablets at my front
door (which I had used up), and parents dropped around precooked food
and shopping etc. At this stage, I was thinking it was a common cold,
because this is what a common cold does to me - it ####s me up. About
4pm, the virus took my body again like a puppet. Out of control
thermal regulation. Hot, cold. Sweating. The night sweats are really
weird. Normally when I'm hot, I sweat everywhere, but I was only
sweating on skin that was facing up. Strange, but similar to a cold.
it's like these viruses have a coordinated collective.
Sunday, sore throat, aches going. Sinuses starting to empty, but
sneezing a lot (those "Aaa Aaa Aaa Argh-CHEW" type sneezes). Mostly
very tried with the wild thermal regulation. Cold, and next instant,
quickly have to get up and strip my cloths before they get soaked.
Again, only skin with the positive Z vector (top of head, neck,
shoulders.. water pissing out of this skin !). Incredible. I get this
with colds too, but not as bad. Sometimes my temperature was 38, but
most of the time it's under 37. Sunday night, my bed sheets and pillow
got soaked. Sunday was when I get SMS from SA Health saying I am
positive and have to iso for 7 days (no arguments from me !).
Today feeling a lot better. Most of symptoms gone except for the
fatigue. But then 4pm, the body got repo'ed again. I got some mild
heart pains, and then the wave of fatigue and sweats started. But,
then it stopped after I ate and had a shower. I seem to be ok now.
Here I am. 2107, and I'm still typing. This is a good sign
Bit of a long post, but I certainly appreciate the detail given =)
It continues....just got another update from him a week later ; quite interesting....
"I'm actually feeling pretty good at the moment. Last night, I was a
bit worried... infact, let me rewind back to Friday morning.......
Friday morning: I was feeling really good. Pretty much back to normal.
My iso curfew ended (what I thought) was 3pm. So, I cheated. At about
11am, I went for a walk around the block, giving 1 guy along the way a
20m berth. Then I did it again about 12. I did this as a "push to
test", to see how I felt. I was feeling pretty good. So, I had lunch,
and then pushed the bike out of house to get it ready for a hills run,
and start putting on my gear. It was a hot afternoon, and I was
feeling it a bit. I'm thinking, hmm, is that me, or am I feeling a bit
fatigued ?.. Maybe I just need to blow the webs out ?. So, I headed
off 1:30, 90min short of the iso finish time. I stopped to get fuel,
and then did the big lap. As I'm riding, I can feel it. I was a little tired.
I get home and glad to be home. But glad to have gone out.
I then get the SMS from SA Health telling me the iso ends midnight.
Great I thought. That info would have been handy before today !
So, I go back to my normal routine, but over time that night, I went a
little down hill. My lungs felt inflamed and I was starting to cough.
I felt this way all night.
When I got up, I noticed my tongue was white. It was like I had a
yeast infection. So, I decided to take a RAT. Positive !. So, that
explained it, and I'm not out the woods.
However, today, I slowly got better. I sat in the sun for 15min, and
did a fast walk around my back yard. Then 5 push ups (which back in
the old days, I used to do hundreds), and 20 sit ups. I felt great.
End of the day, I can't go out. But I'm pretty sure this virus isn't
going to kill me. I doubt I will end up in hospital during this one's
infection at least."
So there you go, one man's story and as he says, it won't kill him. FTR he's just over 50 but fit as a fiddle.
I feel fortunate to have friends like this (in AU and abroad) who take the time & effort to record details like this, of their real life.
Good'on'him, glad he's pulled up ok =)
Room for one more? Two AJ and a p booster. Day 1 and really feeling it. Mrs mkhannah on day 3 and much better, probably normal tomorrow. Our two adult kids have also had it, they are in their early 20’s and said it was like a cold.
Dosed up and will hopefully fall asleep if I can stop coughing.
Not Vaccinated?? I thought we were going so well lately!! (Half joking, mate).
I knew you had kids, but do not know your age... The problem is 'mainly' with/for the older population, not the young-uns...
Here in WA, the 1st 1 & 1/2 years we had almost NO-ONE affected, and virtually(?) Zero in our country areas outside of Perth.
Now that our restrictions/borders have been opened up, there are now MANY thousands every day... However, because the vast
amount of us are now Vaccinated, then even us more elderly should not suffer more than simple/short duration effects of it, if at all.
Both of my sons in Adelaide, (41 y/o & 38 y/o) have now had it, with only mild short-lived symptoms, but have also had all vaccinations.
That is the Key to dealing with this, especially for the sake of the Elderly, as has been proven globally. People have to also keep in mind,
that even the little affected young ones, can still pass it on quicker to those of us more vulnerable!
P.S. "RATs test doesn't detect omicron"??? Never heard that!!?? Though I will look into it.
My youngest daughters partner has just got over it - he was sick as a dog. (not vaxxed).
As I said earlier my grand daughter had it, her symptoms were more like the flu. (not vaxxed)
I still can't get over the fact my youngest daughter hasn't caught it - she's in the same house with them 24/7. (double Astra no booster).
She works in child care where most parents couldn't give a fvck if their kid is sick or not, they still send them, yes even with covid.
She was stuck in a room with a covid positive nurse while having blood samples taken.
If any other bug/virus is floating around she is usually among the first to catch it.
But oh no, not covid, covid doesn't seem to like her for some reason or other.

Yeah, it all seems to fit with the established theories regarding viruses in general and their mutation. They evolve to spread more quickly but are less deadly. After all, there's no evolutionary pathway in killing all the hosts. It's getting harder for the state governments to keep the needless fear campaign active.
I've never got it, even though the wife and I were in close contact with one of the daughters who had it but didn't know for a few days before she went into isolation. The other daugter (or infectee as we call her) was in isolation. Both are totally fine now.
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.
May I ask, without judging, what Governments, like ours here in Australia, would gain by supplying any such miss-information in the 1st place???
Surely their 'intentions' could only be helpful, and as factual as possible, in the 1st place?? Of course there is always the Deceptive & Conning side
of arguments, (from those that oppose), but what could be their motive, considering the actual Costs, and of our present/future livelihoods ???
One thing is SURE, that if we did nothing, there would be a MASSIVE backlash, if/when the proverbial Shit hit the Fan!!! "You did nothing!!"...
Certain 'People' like to quote such events as "The Plague", saying the likes of... "It stopped on it's own didn't it??"... WTF???...
Umm... Yea... (after education), and the lives of 1/3 of Europe??? When I was back in School, we also had "Polio" shots. I don't remember
it being optional... Would YOU like to meet the people who have had Polio, and explain your incredibly informed 'reasoning' to them???
I think some people need to SEE those who have suffered, and maybe then their 'righteous' thoughts will shift to those who have SUFFERED.
