I get part# Lu0706001 superseding Part# LM2835001 ....is that right? If so, I can find the former available on order for US$65...but is it worth it for a near 20yo machine??...probably not (unless of course one could find a donor unit cheap)...again and as you say, probably not ~ most would've hit the ewaste bin years ago =)
Not really sure about the Part No update, It's an Oldie and would normally end up in the e-bin.
The Brother HL-5140 parts manual shows (Brother Australia)
LM2835001 - LASER UNIT ZL2E (SP)
Older Laser Units can sometimes be repaired very easy. The error code will help figure that out.
A new brother mono laser I'd about $150.....

Thank you all very much
The laser polygon motor is making a loud noise and I need to replace it because the bearing has seized
I don't mind buying the same printer for parts pending on the price
If anyone has one please let me know or the part
Have a look at your local Govt Auctions, Whenever I need a spare printer I go there My last one cost me about $50 and still had toner. HP 1312NFI colour printer/scanner/fax. I also managed to pick up enough toner to last the rest of my life for about $20 too.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Many years ago when the polygon motor bearing became very noisy or seized, I would stripped it down and put a coupler drops of machine Oil on the bearing.
If you can get it to spin freely on your workbench then there's a good chance the polygon motor will spin up to speed within the required time and the problem should be fixed.
Good luck..
Many thanks to all of you
