I am getting good speed, etc. with my M1 setup so am rather loathe to try something else.
Everything is good - I simply want the 500GB data allowance ...

OP hasn't disclosed their location so we're grasping at straws -- I also found plenty of address/areas where the optus deal of 4G home internet is available.
The internet speed guarantee is actually under the governance of the ACCC --> &&
Optus is under no obligation to disclose speeds unless you ask ; if you ask they must provide accurate, non-misleading quotations of expected speed performance...blablabla...a fun read.
(a) Refers to NBN
(b) Refers to Fixed Wireless
neither is applicable to 4G
How many times do I have to repeat myself - Read the following and digest its meaning
From an earlier post which was copied from the Optus website:
The main difference between the two products is the location they're intended to be used in. Typically, Mobile Broadband is for customers who want internet on the go, whereas 4G Home Internet is intended for use at home or in the office. and highlighting
Both services operate over the Optus 4G Network. Speeds can vary across the Optus 4G Mobile Network and will depend on several factors such as congestion, location, local conditions, hardware, software and general internet traffic.
Therefore there is no guarantee of speed ...
I am not expecting a guarantee of speed - I know what I am getting now and am quite satisfied with it.
All I want is Optus to cut the bullshit and sign me up for their 4G Home Internet Plan.

those links apply to all fixed broadband, regardless of the technology or company....
you are not grasping the fact that even though 4g home internet is using the 4g 'mobile' service it is classed as a fixed line service when used in accordance with their terms.
therefore it must adhere to the rules regarding speed guarantees for a broadband service, thats why they dont offer it in areas where the network is already congested or, it would seem, suitable nbn services are available.
optus 4g mobile service is a mobile service and does not have to comply with these speed guarantees.
Kudos for spelling that out...I managed to hoist a query ticket on this anyhow, just the 'tell me why is it so?' angle when I found 2 addresses, both in the optus 4G coverage area but < 1klm apart, one passed 4G home internet 'SQ' check the other not...
...the 'SQ' check...service quality...applies as much to the towers as it does to the 4G modem end-point...so..the towers themselves have a primary purpose of providing 4G mobile services, and if they become congested, this traffic is prioritized over fixed/home 4G internet services, and you end up with a shit service that 9/10 seem to complain about being crap on reviews =) Why is this so?..4G mobile services are more important than web browsing generally speaking (000, other emergencies). Some towers require a network upgrade (bigger pipes) + the 5G radio hardware. Quote..."I imagine many areas will end up with 5G hardware deployment, but won't initially be offering 5G home internet services until the required networking upgrade is completed." Sounds real to me...
...when boiled down to a tintack question of "So basically, 2 close-by locations (or any location), may or may not offer 4G home internet, depending on which tower the fixed location modem is connecting to?", and the reply was a curt "Yes, that is correct."
I can get it at work, not at home.
1km apart, same tower, different cell.
My work area is surrounded by a minesite, no houses at all in this direction and is classed as a low grade fttn nbn area.

I have just had an online chat but unfortunately for what reason I am unable to copy the chat so all on this forum can see.
I asked if Optus do not have to guarantee 4G Home Internet speed. Answer: Yes.
Later on in the chat I asked the agent to confirm that Optus does not have to guarantee speeds. Answer: Yes
I said I would really like to be signed up for the 4G Home Internet Plan. Answer: I understand but there is no internet.
Until someone from Optus comes on this forum and explains exactly why I do not have 4G Home Internet availability I stand by my original statement, "The Optus 4G Home Internet plan is a scam."
Note the word "I".

Julius
at 11:40, Apr 8:
Yes phone and home Internet is two different things.
Julius
at 11:41, Apr 8:
You can get 5G mobile sim too to your address as we have discount on it too.
You
at 11:41, Apr 8:
Can you explain the difference between phone and home internet?
ulius
at 11:42, Apr 8:
As phone depends on the network and you can carry everywhere and use where the network is usable and for Home Internet it should be serviceable to your address.
You
at 11:43, Apr 8:
I thought the 4G network was the same everywhere.
Julius
at 11:44, Apr 8:
No it depends as you can go with mobile sim plan to your address.
You
at 11:44, Apr 8:
That still uses the 4g neteork doesn't it?
Julius
at 11:45, Apr 8:
Yes it will be you can use 4G for mobile to your address but not Home Internet.
You
at 11:45, Apr 8:
Why is that?
Julius
at 11:46, Apr 8:
As it should be serviceable in our account to move further.
You
at 11:47, Apr 8:
What does that mean?
Julius
at 11:47, Apr 8:
I mean we cannot process for 4G Internet as of now.
Julius
at 11:47, Apr 8:
As we are from sales team we don;t have the information about when it will be serviceable to your address.
You
at 11:48, Apr 8:
OK Thanks Julius.

Which is exactly why with online chat I had to get transferred 3 times before I got to a tech with the knowledge --- you got played =) Your online chat session lasted 30-odd minutes....took me an hour and a quarter to get me satisfied with results.Julius

...try there.... it'll be a waste of time, but if you feel you're not getting the truth from Optus, that's your next port of call..
Why on earth do I bother ...
(EDIT: If Optus have to guarantee 4G Home Internet speed be open about it like with NBN - include it on the webpage that advertises the 4G Home Internet Plan.)
Until someone from Optus comes on this forum and explains exactly why I do not have 4G Home Internet availability I stand by my original statement, "The Optus 4G Home Internet plan is a scam."

Lol, like some optus drone in India is going to know anything...
.
They have a script they stick to, any deviation from that and they make it up......
I used mine at home for 6 weeks with no issues, looks like the only option for you is to find an address somewhere you can use.
There would be no guarantee that they won't stop access from your cell sometime though.....

Guiseppe (08-04-22)
Are you offering?
(EDIT: Simple request:
Post a link to the site that clearly states the guaranteed download/upload speeds of 4G Home Internet, or
Post a link to a site where a x/yMb/s 4G Home Internet Plan is offered.)
