Default How to make a goldie....101...ok Houston...I'm having a problem

I made a couple of goldies ages ago and want to make another. If I go through the icprog wizzard, when I get to the switch to phoenix mode step where I browse to the GFGold v226 eeprom.hex file to load, when I continue I get the error resetting card failed!!

If I manually try to load the file I get the dreaded Verify failed at address 0000h !

The goldie I have is a new white one from Jaycar. The previous ones were well gold.
I have tried everysing....help! No I mean help!!

Thanks for the replies fellas. I reckon this white gold thing may be faulty!! Hmmmm may go back to Jaycar and see if they still have the actual gold goldies I originally bought.

    check part number
    ZZ8800 white ones are PIC16F84
but Jaycar also have an identical looking part number ZZ8810 with PIC16F877
Also goldies still work with Aurora, handy in the caravan but for how much longer who knows, IRD1 supposed to end this year.

I just had a play with a programmer and some old cards back from the " goldy " days that I found in my treasure collection.

Open Platform Gold cards such as these at site advertiser Kangamail
are still working fine and were programmable. I have had them for probably 6-7 years and they are good value at $7 each at the above link.

I personally would not bother paying more for a silver card. What is the point ? I experimented with Gold , Silver , Emerald and Fun cards and none are any better than the other unless there is some specific application that requires a larger capacity.
