    Default Equipment for a beginner

I have always been interested in amateur radio and thought it is now or never. I will take the license in due course and thought I could buy some kit to kick start receiving. Can't transmit until I get licensed up. So I am looking for a transreceiver that can last me a while. Please let me know if you have out grown your's or upgraded to a fancier radio and happy to sell it. I am based in Sydney.

You need to be a bit more specific... bands, modes, mobile, base, hand held, price range etc.

Also, FYI, it's not legal to be in possession of a transmitter without holding the appropriate licence first... just saying.
