It doesn’t completely explain the problem, but check that this option is off:
Settings > Messages > Filter unkown senders
Hi all,
My Wife has a Iphone 11 running 15.5os, she can send SMS to Android phones but never receives replies from Android phones. The only time it works is when the message contains a picture and txt (mms).
Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and can point me in the right direction to fix the problem.
Cheers
Mick

Also checked messaging app is default is correct and chat features are enabled yes.

Just tried that, no difference.
Her mum has an old flip phone and txt messages don't aren't received either. So it has to be a setting in the iPhone ?
have you tried turning it off and on again ?
updated to latest software ?
reset network settings ?
send as sms when imessaging not available on ?
turn of message filtering ?

Have you checked message send/receive settings?
Some iPhones are set to their Apple ID, rather than the phone number.
Go into Settings > Messages > Send & Receive
Check that your number is displayed. If not, you'll need to link it to your Apple ID.

Hi hoe, yeah tried all of the above, no difference....
Hi mtv, her mobile number is ticked in the list..
Really strange MMS works fine.
Time to contact Apple support?

I took the phone into a telstra shop today, they couldn't help either. So as mtv suggested I'll ring Apple support and see what they can do.
I'll keep you all posted re this.
Thanks for the help anyway
That's just Apple's way of telling you it's time to shell out a million dollars for a fresh bit of fruit. Sorry, I can offer no constructive help, It's just another nail in a well sealed coffin for apple products in my book.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

i suspect another messaging app has taken over..........
maybe whats app or facebook messaging
We'll it's got me stuffed.....
Last night the phone decided to work again like normal, 65 missed messages came in.
So it fixed itself.......
Thanks for everyone's input.....
