    Default Unidentified RAM stick capacity.

    Hi

Thank you & I hope I'm not wasting your time. I tried to look in FAQ & couldn't see my particular problem listed.

I have received some ram sticks & they didn't have an identification sticker on them.

I thought I would look at an individual chip & multiply by the amount of chips on the RAM.

It is a hynix chip & I tried to look its capacity up but either I was looking in the wrong place or didn't know what I was doing (more likely).

I have a picture that is pretty clear but cannot see how to post it here.

    So I'll write exactly what is on the chip -hynix C H5TQ 1G83BFR H9C 014A MWJBF947H1

There are 16 chips on each stick.

Thank you for any help anyone might provide.

Makes sense -- if I had a ddr3 mobo with 4 memory slots and wanted to populate it with 8Gb, I'd use 4 x 2Gb ram sticks.

    FTR,,,the chip is a Hynix Part #: H5TQ1G83BFR-H9C -- a DDR3 DRAM chip with 128MX18, 20ns, CMOS, in PBGA78 ....so 128 x 8 = 1024 (8 chips on a 1Gb stick) ...you've got 16 chips per stick, ergo 2Gb each =)
