Default Faulty Dreambox DM8000 power supply

Has anyone done a successfull DM8000 power supply refurbishment.

I have 2 x genuine DM8000 v1 power supplies that have failed and I am looking to see if I can get them repaired for $$$

Obtaining replacements is almost impossible and it seems a shame to scrap what is basically a great receiver.

Anyway if anyone can help please PM me.

    Cheers

Unless you were really close to me, the postage costs likely hurt too much (relative to the actual cost of repair)....but I had a search about just to see what might be potentially involved here.

I'm going to presume you're calling the original PSU boards bad, because replacing them effectively fixed/resolved your problems? (always ask, never assume =)

If that were so, me...I would like to know what the state of failure was...ie; no power at all, bad bootup...etc...

After a bit of searching about, I found , which contains heaps of indepth information regarding these PSUs, their problems and means of repair/refurbishment.

Going by the details available there, the job looks like a typical SMPS board level repair and none too difficult (caveat parts availability wrt drivers/ICs).

Sometimes knowing what's likely to be involved, helps folks conclude whether or not they might be able to help out =)

The two power supplysmhave different issues

Power supply 1 will only display the front blue LED power button light

Power Supply 2 just ticks with no front display

You can contact Johnny from jb8a8f8 he has huge experience and will tell you which parts you need to replace on the PSU board (don't need to send all the box that is huge),
