Default IPhone suddenly asking for a password after update

    Hi all.
Not sure how to overcome this but my mum's iPhone updated (iphone10) and all of a sudden its asking for a passcode. She's never had a pass code on her phone in the past.

I've been reading on the internet to try 123456 and 1234 and I've also tried other combos I found on the net.

Only option now is to reset to factory default but I don't really want to because shell lose her contacts.

Has anyone else come across this issue lately?

    Cheers in advance.

iOS requires the phone password to be entered before the update process begins. If she has updated the phone, she must have had the password.

Whatever password she entered to start the update process is the same password that the phone requires when it restarts.

Seems many folks with iDevices have stumbled into this...

Definitely no password on the phone. I pay her bills using NAB app because she has no idea.. She doesn't even know how to SMS and doesn't know how to use anything g except for calling a few contacts. All of a sudden this morning the code request came on.

Thanks. I read that article. No chance getting my mum on Android. She had a hard time using an iPhone.

    That being the case --

    That link needs paid membership

The iPhone needs to be reset.
Unfortunately the iPhone does not store contacts on the SIM card like practically all other phones do.
If the iPhone causes pain and Android is even worse with all it's bloat, then I would look into 'Senior's Phones' aka burner phones
Lookout for enabled pushbutton phones that have apps and social media abilities without the bloat.
It is a fork from the discontinued firefoxOS but Mozillia has now partnered with them, Linux based of course and has become very popular surpassing iOS in some countries where not all are rich.

Sometimes less can be more, depending on your needs.

$26.95 to read the reviews or even any info about the phones...?!
I think you could do better than that, or did you have a senior moment

Maybe try duckduckgo next time you search for stuff like that:
