Are you sure thats the master code?
Try changing it
*5 master code
01 (XXXX new code) #
Try again with new code.
If that doesnt change it try changing it the same way with the installer code
Hi Folks it's been a while since I posted here as my home alarm system has been working flawlessly since changing the backup battery in 2014.
I had the Power light flashing which indicated a battery change was required.
So I turned off the system at the power point, installed the replacement battery and powered the system back up.
Then I knew I had to reset the date and time.
So I grabbed my trusty User Manual and began that process.
*96
Master Code
2 = Monday
08 = August
08 = Date
22 = Year
#
*97
Master Code
17 = 5.00pm
30 = Minutes
#
Service light remains on even after arming and disarming the system.
Tried multiple times to complete the date & time programming.
Even wrote down all the numbers in sequence in case I made a mistake, which is common.
So next I tried doing it again and this time I armed the system, took the dog for a walk and returned 30 minutes later.
Disarmed the system and the service light remains on.
*2 shows 8 which is the date and time fault.
Question:- is there an end of life for the year? Is 2022 at the end of the systems life?
What else could be wrong?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Thanks Andrew for your response here..
I am anal when it comes to things like writing things down for future reference.
I did change the Master Code once I had installed and setup the system back in 2009.
It's been working as expected since then and even after I changed the battery back in 2014.
I had no issues resetting the date and time at that time.
That's why it had me going this time..
I printed out the simple instructions on how to reset the Date and Time and worked out all the required numbers and added them to the lines they are required in and yep, still having problems.
The system Arms and Disarms with out errors but the Service light remains on.
*2 still shows an 8 which means the date and time still needed to be sorted.
I had thought that the year date 22 (2022) may be at the end of this systems service life and that is why it won't accept the date.
I will do as you have suggested and report back here.
Cheers
Steve
Hi Andrew, I did what you suggested and changed the Master Code, then tried setting the date and time again. That failed..
I did notice that my usual user Code, which was also the old Master code still allowed me to disarm the system after I set the alarm and left fort 30 minutes or so.
So I'm also guessing that for some reason, the Master Code wasn't changed after all.
I will try using the installer code tomorrow and see what happens.
Hi again Andrew, I have also tried the Installers Code, then tried to set the date and time.
That didn't work either.
Service Light Remains on...
So then I reverted back to the Default Installer Code, then tried to set the date and that worked.
Then I did the same thing with the Time and that too worked.
So for some reason, most likely being my fault, the system is back working as it was.
Now I have to read through the manual and change my Installers Code once more.
I have written all of this down so next time I won't stuff things up.
I have also been in touch with a local alarm tech and asked about the costs to upgrade my panel and it's box to the NX-12.
He quotes a fully installed & complete NX-12 system for $1200.00 including with a comnav.
Thanks for your assistance here...
Cheers
Steve
