    Default PS2 Clicking noises

    Hey guys,

I hav a PS2 (fat) which is making weird clicking noises. It was working fine till my controller's wires got entangled with my feet and came out. After chking evrythin and resetting it, the clicking noises still persist. the game GTA:SA tends to hang a lot after loading too. M not sure how safe it would be for me to mess bout wth the ps2's insides (other than the fact that i may screw it up even more). Colud somebody plz plz recommend places in brisbane whr i could get this fixed wthout gettin ripped off? thnks

99% of the time its the laser guide arm just a simple bend for the metal ones or I use a soldering iron to help bend the plastic ones

Open the DVD door and turn the power (at the back)off and push the door in enough so you can still open it with your fingers
Just remove all the screws from the bottom of the PS2 they are all hidden underneath little plastic plugs,Carefully remove the lid as some models use a ribbon cable to hook up the reset and eject swich so just go slowly.
Once the lid is off remove the 4 screws or 2 screws from the dvd drive some you might need to lever 2 little clips on the dvd lid
once your inside looking at the laser you will need to remove the right hand side steal shaft by removing the screw at the back of it and sliding it out a bit then you should be able to bend the arm back down and then slide shaft back in and so the screw back up and then give it a test and if all good put it back together

When you do things right, people won't be sure that you have done anything at all
