    Default Copying Xbox360 Games

I'm thinking of getting a 360 and was just wondering how hard is it to copy a Xbox360 Game.

I read that downloading a game and burning it is quiet easy. Just not sure how hard it is to rip them..

    Thanks

Xbox and Xbox 360 dvds use a different file structure to standard dvds, and thus cannot be read in standard pc dvd drives. All you will get is a short video clip saying insert this disc into an xbox 360 console.

There is a couple of ways to rip 360 games.

    1) If you're 360 drive is soft-flashed, you can connect the drive to your pc, use a 0800 boot disc and start ripping with say xbox backup creator. The downside to this is that you need to pull apart your console each time you want to rip a game. Not the best approach.

    2) Buy a specific samsung dvd drive for your pc (s162c i think it is). This is what i have. Flash the drive with kreon firmware, open xbox backup creator and click rip. Pretty simple and works every time. I have made isos/burnt a few games sucessfully using this method.

Once you have an iso (downloaded or ripped) use imgburn or dvd decrypter to burn them. Make SURE that you set the layer break (in settings > iso write mode) to 1913760 for each game or it will not work! This step is critical.

With all cds/dvds you burn, make sure you use quality media! If you don't you risk shortening your drives life as well as getting poor readback performance. I personally use TDK double layer dvd-rs for 360 games. About 12 bux for a 5 pack. Quality is great, and playback is indistinguishable from an original disc.

also if you are ripping originals yourself make sure you add stealth .ss files if you use xbox live or risk banning.

This is the only thing I disagree with Keegs, but each to their own I suppose, I like the Verbatims best, haven't had a coaster since I changed the firmware on my Sony 800A to Lite-on, experimented with Ridata, very hit and miss, lucky to be 50%, had a go at TDK again 3 out of 10 coasters, so I'm sticking with Verbatim.

And I think you meant Imgburn not Isoburn, would that be correct?
    Cheers

Sorry Al, i did mean Imgburn. Will edit my original post.

I use a pioneer dvr115 dvd burner, and it hasn't made any coasters thus far. Never had a problem with TDK so im sticking to it

BenQ flashed with iXtreme 1.5 firmware. One of the quieter drives so i've read.

Have used Verbatim and TDK +R.
Haven't had a coaster yet. Am using a Pioneer DVD -RW DVR-K17LF to burn them and my box contains a Samsung drive. Pretty stoked so far.

yeh i think its mainly the hitachi drives that are picky about media, last hitachi i had here would read about half of my games burnt on ridata and all on verb.

verbatim and tdk are made in the same factory - cmc magnetics....

ridata/ritek used to be ok, but since they became popular the quality went downhill and lots of fakes appeared.

stick with tdk/verbatim or taiyo yuden.....

I've always found that dropping the recording speed down to 4 or 8x means my recordings are always ok...

Whats the stealth .ss file I read about..

Do you need it if you're not connecting your xbox360 to XBox live?

you need it if you have stealth firmware (iextreme) or the disc will not boot, this was too prevent detection on live of burnt discs but it seems its innefective from the last ban wave.

I use xbox backup creator to backup all my original and copied 360 games and never had any problem. As it patches the image files perfectly all in one simple process. Especially SS and iXtreme.

You can download the latest version here.

And ImgBurn to burn the game images to blank DVD+R dual layer media.

To backup origional games you need a Samsung DVD rom drive with a modified firmware called Kreon.

You can purchase one from here

Any dvd drive can be used to copy backups.

Exclamation "to play this disc please insert it into an XBOX 360 console"

Hi, i have just purchased a pre-modded ixtreme 360 console which arrived today. I have made numerous backups and every single one gives me this message. I never get an unreadable message or anything, always this one.

I have checked the backup iso with xdvdmulleter and it is fine. ixtreme compatible and all.

What could be wrong? is it possible the ixtreme mod was not done properly or not there at all? is there any way i can check this from the console itself???

please any feedback would be very helpful since i've been going through hundreds of forums indicating how to burn the backups but with always the same result.
