    Default Opnsense v Pfsense

I've been using both these on repurposed sophos appliances for a few months.

There's not a lot of difference at the end of the day, I've settled on opnsense on the sg330, as suricata and adblock seem a bit more stable and the sfp modem works perfectly on telstra nbn fttn.

Latency with the proscend sfp modem is down to 17ms, best I've seen with telstra or draytek modems is 21ms. No practical difference really, but interesting.

Just set up sfp port as wan/dhcp and tick Dynamic gateway policy box.

I may get round to adding another sfp modem and trying out wan lagg with another ISP.

I probably should get round to setting up switching on the lan ports rather than using an external switch.

Then it'll be an all in one unit

And configuring lcdproc to work with the sophos display, it's much easier with pfsense as there is a gui. Opnsense requires manual editing of cfg file. .

Security seems pretty good, my qnap hasn't fallen victim to any of the recent attacks....

Its pretty much what you prefer/what works best with your hardware. I like snort on pfsense.....
