Dreambox Benefits - in Australia

Hi there

I am about to buy a new Satellite decoder box and have been reading up on the Dreambox. I understand it is a Linux based system but would like to know what the other benefits are? Any feedback appreciated.

Any recommendation on which model and where to buy would also be helpful.

Hours of fun learning how to program the bastards and to get all the benefits from this box you will spend more time setting it up than watching TV.

However once you have mastered your Dreambox you will be in heaven.

Always look out for any posts by JONC who is the GURU Master and gets Dreamboxes to do things that others only dream about.

Be prepared to put in scores of hours of time to learn how to use these wonderful receivers.

At the moment they are a great toy for getting free TV.

A simple change by the providers and the dreambox becomes an expensive doorstop.

No amount of help from any body will guarantee the status quo.

Thanks for the responses. I'm not too fussed about the amount of time required to get them up and running as I find it a challenge. Let's face it how much goos stiff id there to watch anyway???

Ah the search function shal be your friend. Expensive hobby if this free TV lol

The boxes are not programmed to watch free TV ..... not unless they are reading from a valid card.... somewhere eithre in the DM itself or on a cad reader or on a card server... expet of course real Free To Air content which you can get with any receiver
