    Default EvID4226Patch for SP2 tcpip.sys

    Hello,

I am thinking about using the patch, EvID4226Patch.exe, to increase the number of connections allowed per port in the tcpip stack, however, my virus scanner, AVG 8.0, reports that HackTool.AB has been found.

Further googling states that this is a false positive due to the method that the author used to patch the tcpip.sys file, a method that can also be used by true virii authors to assist in further spreading of their unwanted programs.

So, what does one believe, web site reports, random forums posts, virus scanners, etc?? Even the authors web site states that "some virus scanners will report problems but is not the case".

Has anyone actually patched their tcpip.sys file using the above program, and where their any side affects?

    regards

    porkop

Been using it for ages .........side effects are really noticeable using shareaza.
If i receive that stupid Microsoft update that puts the concurrent connections back to ten my shareaza downloads turn from a stream into a trickle.

I have found AVG to be a little too sensitive for my liking, does the same with keygens, thinks they are worms/Trojans.
