Is the shed insulated?
Hi All
As many probably know from other threads i have running i have a new shed that has been built on my property.
the last few weeks i have noted that in current climate in SEQ it is basically unusable. it is so hot in there that one could pass out with heat stroke. even into the night it is still hot in there.
I am considering putting in a split system into there for days where it is unbearably hot. the shed is 12mX7mX4m
I realize the shed is not very well sealed either in that air can get out above the door etc. however i know shops manage to keep cool sometimes with the front door wide open.
so i am wondering what sort / size air conditioner would i need to cool that space so that it is better to work on my cars?
Thanks

Start there....it'll lower your air-con needs/save power

+1 for insulating the roof and walls, otherwise it will be a waste of time and money.
If you are wanting to cool the entire space, then you'll probably need at least two large split systems.
An evaporative unit would be a better option.
Shops often use a blower, which creates a vertical 'wall' of air over entrances.

Based on your area volume, you'll likely need 15-20kW (plus insulating the roof and walls)
While you're at it, you might consider solar to power the system.
Although not as effective, some large industrial pedestal fans is a much cheaper option, but again... insulation is the priority.
