How long before our government follows suit in relation to these companies?

Many of the third party supplied cameras here are simply rebadged versions of those brands. Will definitely create waves if the same is enforced here - however short term I don’t think that will happen.

You can learn alot using Google, and the search button.....
What a load of crap! What do they think, that all CCTV cameras are gonna stream video back to the Chinese government? Or that the Chinese can dial-in and remotely view a camera feed of Joe Public's backyard BBQ?"unacceptable risks to national security"
I have a Dahua system at my residence. I have allowed remote access via the internet and therefore the Dahua servers. I am almost certain that, despite the security measures I have in place, those with direct access to their servers could view my cameras if they so wished.
Edit: and my understanding of how the Hikvision remote via internet works means they are in the same boat.

Some government departments are now not allowing these brands to be installed.
And most aren't allowed any remote access to avoid this.
I have Hikvision at my house, and have it port forwarded with a static IP and changed ports etc so sort of secure, but likely still accessible if the CCP wants to see my back yard
Sounds a bit like the protectionist policies of the 60's where the Govt were (then) trying to protect home grown businesses. Then began the "free trade" agreements. Rinse and repeat!
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...
If the CCP wanna watch my fat arse bending over in the back yard picking up dog poo, go for it!

Statistically, if you wait long enough, everything will happen!
The issue being, if they can view you picking up crap in your backyard, there is a strong likelihood they can view cameras that have some form of internet connectivity (including door access cams, linked sensors, access codes, etc on Dahua/Hik equipment) at locations that one would hope are more secure.
The issue is more that it can provide a back door into networks. They don't care about your footage as much as they might want to see what devices etc are attached to your CCTV/intercom/alarm network. Still no substantial proof, however could be done I imagine.
