Default Archive footage from Hik NVR ie old days of keeping tapes.

Is there a way to archive footage and keep drives going back a year? Hot swap drives, or maybe record in background. Sounds crazy, but i get asked a lot. If possible, what would be the most efficient way? Cheers

    128ch Hikvision NVR
about 80 cameras mostly 6mp recorded at full frames for motion and 4fps constant.

I wouldn't try and archive anything. It would take too long and tax the NVR too much.
Better off maxing out the hardrives in the NVR ( I think 16 in that machine?)
Are the cameras set to H265? That would cut down a bit on storage required.
Then adding extra NAS's if needed - should be able to assign multiple.
What is the current used bandwidth?
Whichever way you go it's going to be expensive

Thanks for reply. I've priced up a option for HIK san backup, along with other options. Crazy expensive imo, but worth it for some clients.

I am getting the same request, with a twist : I'd only need to archive 12 cameras out of the total recording on the NVR.

Is there a way to access the file system ? Can the HIK NVR share storage on the network ?
