Default JTAG for ARM925T using J-LINK

    Hi.
I am having some issues with Segger J-LINK connected to ARM9 CPU.
Reading the external flash, what I need is a full binary hex dump to save to a file.
J-LINK and J-FLASH only saves a file as a '.DAT' file and is not an image of the flash.
It looks like an IDE plugin will do the job but can't find that IDE.
It is 'emIDE.exe' if anyone has a copy to share.
I am so used to other JTAG setups that do what I need with only a few button presses.
Problem there, is none of those I have support the target.
Any help here would be hot. TYIA

    Merry Christmas to all

    Hi.
That is the part I could really use. I have the documentation but the app download page has been down for some time.
I just did post a thread looking for that.
    Thanks for your input.

The app download page is the link red star posted. It works.

Where did you get this notion of an 'emIDE.exe' binary file name?

    Hi.
That link is fine, click on the download hotlink and the page I get is 'this page is not available at this time'
been like that a couple months.
It is not a notion, emIDE.exe is an executable. the file that would be downloaded.
What it will do with the J-LINK is open, edit, and save the flash as a binary HEX file.
Without the IDE, the Segger software doesn't save the HEX file.
J-FLASH can use the HEX file to write into a flash.
Specifically, I need to save the flash from a Harris M7300.
The Segger software restricts that to a "DAT" file that is useless to me.

See what you make of this:

Ahh..... what I was referring to was the actual --installer-- package filename....ie; from emide.org...

...ergo the installer would've had a name like emide-v2.05-windowsXP-setup.exe ......or such and similar...(it's often easier to find dinosaur software if you've got the full installer package name =)

    Also from same page...

.....that just lends a datapoint of chronology -- emide 2.05 was about when the J-link software was at v4.68 ... and if you look through all the Jlink plugins you note several have been cited to work with emIDE v2.05

The downloads (and other) pages have been deliberately edited to be blank ~ either the original author is no longer with us/no longer interested in supporting the product (or fielding questions etc etc) ; you get that =)

Might be a waste of time, but you could try emailing the author...perhaps he could provide you with a copy.

Also, found this on the segger forum....

Hi. well, proof is in the pudding, BUT, every link I have, including the Segger forum, take me to this:

I tried the save link and that failed too.

uploaded the emIDE installer, and I got that, so I should be good to go.
73s all, appreciate the help. I do reciprocate if there is anything you need.

Hey, given I always wind up doing things the hard way, I am redy to go with the GDB server and emIDE.
Now if I can just get J-LINK to connect. It dumps at clock settings like anything is wrong.

Haha, I admire your persistence.... you're running a suitably ancient version of the segger suite?

Actually, it is the latest out of Segger.
No matter, J-link refuses to connect, Irregardless configuration and settings.
I am dumping Segger for an older setup I have but with new software should get me what I need.
    cheers

    Hi Hunchback Tech,

Did you ever get this working the way you want? I have been trying to connect a Segger J-Link Plus to an ARM9 (OMAP 5910) and haven't been having any success. I'm hoping to dump the flash like you were. It will do a boundary scan, identify some devices but they don't look correct.

When I try any read/write activities it can't /reset halt the CPU, and throws all kinds of strange errors. Sometimes J-Flash will just outright crash.

I think we may have been trying to work on the same device. I'm too stubborn to throw in the towel, but it has been frustrating.

    Cheers,
    SD.
