Unidentified connector

I could really use some help in identifying the posted connector. A manufacturer perhaps, maybe a part number.
20 pin female. I will need to locate a male for this.
This is on a rather expensive emmulator

Looks like a VESA Digital Flat Panel connector....(can't be sure, no dimensional measurements)

edit: 20pin SCSI (MDR20) is also a possibility

I should have indicated some dimentions. The SCSI looks close but too big.
The thumbscrews are 38 MM centers. Contacts are 1.0 MM centers.
Thickness is 5 MM. The guide pins would be 26 MM.

M'kay even smaller than vesa dfp ...even in MDR 20...




Must be some custom job...... what equipment is this part of? When I get stuck with this sort of thing, I open device up to see if there's any identification markings on the epoxy housing of the connector.

That certainly matches the inner connector except mine has 1.0 mm pin centers.
The equipment is a TI JTAG emulator. I believe made in Taiwan by EWA technologies.
No identification markings other than pin numbers visible in the image.
TI originally sold this for $2000 so not a cheapie. Now discontinued and superseded by Blackhawk BH-USB-560v2
There are cables available for the newer, but even Blackhawk could not tell me if the jacks are the same.
Not going to spend $200 and the new cable not work.
If I can't find a compatible plug, there is just enough room, I could butcher this and install a standard 20 pin header.
Not my first choice though.

edit: I've come to think these were samtec connectors ...and if you were feeling hacky (and I dunno what tongue thickness is needed), the pcie slot interface is on a 1.00mm pitch
I'm of course thinking of hacksaw & an old pcie card...but chances are there's extender/riser cards out there...somewhere... =)

That PCIE card I think I could modify for my application. I need to get a 14 pin header male and ribbon to go to the device under test.
Well, to dig up some old cards and fire up the Dremmel.

The connector type, is Samtec Q Series...

I think specifically, it's a custom SQCD connector ....

The way you describe things, I'm thinking this is an older device?

Cabling is available here --> ...but I get the impression most of these are for version 2 of BH-USB-560 (they use SQCD 2 x 25P)

At a guess, the cable you're after is this --> .... keep hacking =)

Hi.
I dug through Samtech and just got lost in the maze.
That Corelis cable is what I need, but the price is 3 X my whole project.
I already have the buffer module, some proto boards and some plugs/sockets, I can make one.
The hard part has been compatible plugs.

Yeah, samtec are ODM suppliers ~ you know you're in the 'deep end' when a lot of their listings don't show any parts, just a 'customize your part' notice =)
It's same old, same old here...same for lab/medico equipment...instead of using an industry standard off-the-shelf part, they'll design their own hinky connector instead, locking you into their expensive cables...'value add' as they say =)

Thinking about what you have to hack, I suppose 'proper' way would be to check connector PCB footprint ~ often they don't end up modding that, because it's cheaper to stick with a standard design...they just mod the connector itself.

Short of doing that, and as per my notion above.... this would be my first idea about 'least work involved'...

edit: I should've pointed out the vesa DFP connector illustration above is a Hirose item

Hi.
the extender may be yet a better way to go. From this plug, I need a standard 14 female header as in the TI.
Another hard one will be sort of a micro female 2X10 and that back to the 14 pin.
I know Samtech makes the micro 20, I just got a few of the 14 and 10 pin female SMT that go to the control target board itself.

It sounds complicated but I need that 14 pin male, with or without the adapter board.
I'll order a couple of those ebay cables, that should be a good start.
I can link some photos to show what I am up against and still have to consider a high speed setup so shorter is better.

Hey thanks, I'll save the page for reference. I found that .1 mm 20 pin plug on Mouser so ordered 2
A Samtech FFMD series.
So xx From the emulator, I can go to the 20 pin ARM header or the 14 pin OMAP header.
The latter will mate the adaptive clocking module and the FFMD can go to 20 pin ARM or the 14 pin.
Looks like I am good to go.

The difficult part is 6 connectors and all different.
