At least if she can get into the system with a pin she should be able to backup everything if a reinstall is needed of win 10. That would be the first thing to do regardless.
Edit:
Not sure if you have tried this
My eldest daughter has forgotten her system password. She can boot the system with a pin, but can't restore to a restore point without the password.
So, how do I recover, reset the thing easily for her? Most of the crap I googled is just that...

There was a linux boot disk that I have used to change the windows password without even booting into windows, but sadly I cant recall what it is called.

Looked up notes from way back when,... I do recall that it did work and I had used it previously,.. never had a need in recent times. The link I had as reference no longer exists, but found ,.. unsure if it still works these days.
The notes I had were:
Change local admin pw with Stickykeys:
- Boot up with WinPE or equiv.
- Open CMD prompt
- ren c:\windows\system32\sethc.exe *.old
- copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe sethc.exe
- Reboot
- Press shift 5 times to launch stickykeys which will now open an elevated cmd prompt
- Change administrators password: net user administrator *
- Activate administrators account: net user administrator /active:yes
- Reboot
- Probably a good idea to rename sethc.old back to .exe once logged in

Not sure if they are still available but the Ultimate BootCD for Windows, was a good tool for this and other utilities. Another one was Hiren's Boot CD, along the same lines as UBCD is also worth investigating.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

Here's the deal which is fairly black and white.
Most new computers coming out of system manufacturers come with Bitlocker enabled in the bios within UEFI. With that said, it's difficult to gain access to the drive using some kind of bootable USB to attack the system unless you know the BitLocker key. If you have that key, you should be able to unlock the drive and change passwords or rest them if need be.
Remember gentlemen and ladies this isn't the old days of exploiting local systems.
I'm having an issue right now with a win 7 box, no admin password and bitlocker. It's been a learning process, and have not popped the bitlocker key yet...

I don't see anywhere that bitlocker is activated by default in win10, this seems to be a user preference. What you say is correct of course, but only if the installer/user activated this feature =)

OK...I appreciate all the advice. I put a new m2 in the thing and restored windows. Set passwords and wrote them down....then did a full image for her.
She has epilepsy and just forgets sh!t, so I've saved her from herself...
Thanks all.
jimbos linux solution intrigues me....
