Foxtel boxes require both connections (H&V) from the LNB, so a splitter is unsuitable.
If you want independent operation of both, use a multiswitch.
Is anyone running a foxtel and vast box off the same lnb ie is it possible as in a splitter and turn off the lnb power on the vast box ?

Yep I use a multiswitch.
This is the one I have
which is 2 in 8 out.
You only need 2 in 4 out like this one>

Thanks guys that's perfect one question do I leave the lnb power turned on on both boxes ?
You don't need both boxes turned on, if you are only using one, but yes, always leave LNB power turned on but one box doesn't have any affect on the other as they operate entirely independently.
In other words, you always need LNB power turned on with the box you are watching, but it will make no difference whether the other box is turned on or not.

Cheers guys thanks for all the help
Please remember this system will NOT work with older FOX installations with a single output LNBF.
Nothing that a dual output LNBf can't fix.
Well, believe it or not, I just gave an elderly neighbour my old TV & when I installed it, he actually still has an Austar SD box & a single output LNBf.
Lucky the old TV still has RCA inputs for the old Austar box.

In my area there are numerous old single output installs. Most are now 10700 but I know at least 9 with 11300 Acer LNBF's (still working). When FOX do an decoder upgrade they just still use a single SAT input even with IQ decoders. and lets not talk about internet broadband !
roof's littered with dishes pointing in all directions. I fine it easier just to do what the "others" do & install a new 65cm dish with twin outputs. Nowdays rust is my enemy.
