Is GPS turned on in the windows menu ?
I wouldnt be persisting with TT6 as the maps are too old.
once i get it working i will use tt7
the gps turns on by its self when you load tomtom it has a icon on the desktop whitch turns green when tt is loaded it should work i have read the manual a dozon times it also says it can take a long time to find a signal after a reset i had it outside for about one hour no go i will leave it out side for a longer time to see how it goes thanks
If it wont find a signal at all it is probably on the wrong com port on the settings. But it does usually take some time on the first boot so make sure you are outside with a clear line of site.
ok i will try and leave outside for a long time and see what happens thanks
just checked my settings
gps program port = com7
gps hardware port = com1
then their is a tick in a box called manage gps automatically (recommended)
do you know if thease settings are right thanks
Go through the available comports in the Tomtom program itself. If its correct it should say " poor gps signal " until it connects.
Does this unit have an inbuilt GPS chip or are you using a bluetooth one ? In your Tomtom settings , what type of GPS selected ?
it has a inbuilt gps chip as i am not useing bluetooth type of gps selected is "other nmea gps receiver"
tt6 does not have much in the config section all it has is "how should latitudes longituds be displayed" degrees, minutes, seconds the default settings is degrees
when i run tt7 from a sd card it says poor singal you must be indoors i think i will run tt7 and leave it outside for a long time i will post my results later thanks
You need to go in to change preferences , show GPS status , and click on configure.
Although my windows 6 phone has a built in GPS chip , it will only work as " other NMEA gps receiver " on 9600 and IRDA2410 <- this is one of 5 options available.

Ok , you will need to go through those last options which are com ports , one of them will connect. if it says GPS Not Found its the wrong one.
