You need to rename a .dll file for the sound to work on Tomtom 7.

If it wont find a signal at all it is probably on the wrong com port on the settings. But it does usually take some time on the first boot so make sure you are outside with a clear line of site.

Go through the available comports in the Tomtom program itself. If its correct it should say " poor gps signal " until it connects.

Does this unit have an inbuilt GPS chip or are you using a bluetooth one ? In your Tomtom settings , what type of GPS selected ?

it has a inbuilt gps chip as i am not useing bluetooth type of gps selected is "other nmea gps receiver"
tt6 does not have much in the config section all it has is "how should latitudes longituds be displayed" degrees, minutes, seconds the default settings is degrees
when i run tt7 from a sd card it says poor singal you must be indoors i think i will run tt7 and leave it outside for a long time i will post my results later thanks

You need to go in to change preferences , show GPS status , and click on configure.

Although my windows 6 phone has a built in GPS chip , it will only work as " other NMEA gps receiver " on 9600 and IRDA2410 <- this is one of 5 options available.

Ok , you will need to go through those last options which are com ports , one of them will connect. if it says GPS Not Found its the wrong one.
