Swapping a softmodded HDD to another Xbox

I've just soft modded an xbox for a family member, but accidentally used the 250GB HDD I was planning to put in my own box. I'm a little weary in the head after a frazzling week at work and thought I'd get some external input on the quickest/best way to go about this.

I've got both eeproms on file and the usual swag of utilities. I'm assuming I can unlock the drive and do the job without any hot swapping hassles. Any advice appreciated!

All you need to do is use XBHDM to unlock the HDD using the EEPROM of the XBOX it's locked to, then use the EEPROM from the XBOX you want to put it into, and then lock it.

You may need to burn XBHDM twice to do this..

Ah ok. I ended up getting it done before I read your post... I had a disc for each system burned already (naturally!), so I unlocked the HDD with the first disc, then chucked the second disc in and rebuilt the drive from scratch. Not too much of a hassle.

But you're saying that I could have skipped the rebuild process - just unlock with the old EEPROM then lock with the new EEPROM?

That is correct. The locking and unlocking of the drive can be done without having to rebuild the drive. Just use the HDD lock/unlock tools, once that's done, you're all done

I'm not sure if different configurations might have potential problems with different XBOX revisions or BIOSes, but in my experience you can just swap the EEPROM lock on the drive with no hassles.

LOL, swapping EEPROM chips is by no means easier (for a beginner, at least) than using the XBHDM method. Sure swapping EEPROM chips would be quicker and there are less steps involved, but I'm certain that most people would much prefer the safer way of doing it, instead of mucking about with soldering.

Personally, even though I can solder (new to SMD though, so not that confident) I'd much prefer the swap methods.
