Default Dead DVD ROM on Xbox 360

    Guys

The DVD Rom on my 360 packed up and I need to replace it. I need your advise on what is the best option.

I want to be able to play copied games also.

    Thanks in advance.

what do u mean by packed up?

if it still works and doesnt read disks and you are handy with this sort of thing...

get one off ebay. chances are you will have to spoof the firmware so that it reports correctly but there are many tutes out there on this sort of thing

if the board is not faulty, try and get the same drive and just change the board over.

    It doesn't read the disk.
what I am asking is it better to buy the same drive and just replace the board or is there a better quality dvd rom drive that would work and can be flashed with modded firmware?

Most of the drives are much the same really. The easiest would be to get the same model drive, but if it just doesnt read disks, you probably just need a new laser.
What would you do if your server was stolen or failed beyond repair?
