    Default Calling all gamers.

Grandson has just asked if I could help him build a gaming PC. He wants to play Blox fruits at over 100 fps.

I know nothing of the game, he tells me that his budget is $500 which, I suspect that it is waaaay too cheap for anything meaningful. I did suggest hitting the govt auctions for a cheap desktop PC. Just building a basic computer would be a good learning experience for him, but I don't want him to be frustrated because his computer is way underpowered. He's 12 and very intelligent, but still has a lot of learning to do. They are in Brisvegas and I am in SA so I can't just pop in and show him anything in a hurry. Though I expect that I'll be up there before the end of the year as mum and dad have just bought a new home.

SO my main question is Intel or AMD? recommended CPU, MOBO, Video Card? The rest I can probably sort without issues. I helped another grandson build his first PC a few years back and he has just upped his RAM to 32 Gb with a 2Tb SSD. He is a mad fortnite player.
I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message...

$500 won't even get a basic machine, let alone specs intended for 'gaming'. (I'll fix your typo in the title from ganers to gamers )

I personally prefer the AMD processors.

For something capable of 100FPS, that will require some serious processing and graphics, likely several thousand $

    Here's some examples.

I've just finished building a mini-tower system that'd go close... new case, 600w PSU. ASUS A88XM-A mobo, 8gb g-skill ares ddr3 1600 ram, nvidia GT-610, 128ssd bootdrive/500gb spinning storage, cd-dvd drive....forget what CPU is in there, comes with pretty LED gaming keyboard & mouse. Can be upgraded...faster CPU/RAM, better GPU....I was going to list it on ebay for $200 + postage .....

...and comes installed with linux Mint (so if one wants windows, do that)....500bucks is not a lot of budget ...

    ...but I'm not a ganer =)

    100fps...at what resolution?

You'll need more than that at any real resolution. I haven't gamed for many years, but I know people who do.

High end GPUs are horrendously expensive....

WHOA...actually had a look at this game. It doesn't need much at all...you MAY be able to do it. I'd start with a second hand basic system. The minimum graphics are pretty basic.

The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

I know, I was wondering if you guys knew something that I didn't. He's 12 and I spoke to his mum today, and he doesn't even have $5.00, so, I'm not sure where he's gonna get the funds from........ My thinking for now, get an old ex govt box with a reasonable spec and go from there. At least that's what I told mum. It was nice that he thought of me, but I know nothing of the current crop of games and I know many of them need GFX cards that cost 4 or more times his "budget" without MOBO, CPU, RAM etc.

I'm with you there, I rarely spend more than that on a computer. However, I do not play games and I am not familiar enough with modern games to determine their system requirements.

Sounds great, however, I do not play Roblox and grandson is a little far away to be able to provide technical support to. FWIW. mum and dad, use computers, but that's about it, and any thing without that other OS or android, is like a foreign language to them. One that they don't want to learn!
