Xbox 360 Pro vs Arcade and Modding
Hi Everybody,
Im looking to purchase an xbox 360.
Now can anyone tell me the benefits of the pro console and vice versa the arcade version and modding of both.
Not sure which one to get any input appreciated.
Late post but currently in Europe....I miss Australia.
Thanks.

both consoles are internally exactly the same and you run the risk of buying a `lite-on` (unflashable drive) model in each pack , other than that the arcade comes with a memory card and the pro comes with a 60gb hard drive now.
i have read if you can find a model manufactured before march this year there is a good chance it will not have a lite-on drive in it.
edit: i mean current models in shops now, if you go an older model you may find it will have no hdmi and a differnent motherboard etc.

I will most likely either purchase a refurb model from wowsightnsound or try and find a 20gb pro unit with hdmi, will this most likely not have the liteon?
thanks

depends on the manufacture date really.

I emailed a couple of installers out of the old tradingpost and they both said that the liteon xbox360s can now be modified with firmware.
Can anyone please confirm or deny this?

you can read the drive key and spoof it onto another moddable drive, you cant mod the actual lite-on itself.

Looks like ill go for the option of buying a latest model with hdmi and 60gb hdd.
Unless there are any issues anyone forsees with the replacement drive and games etc.
Thanks alot.
No issues, just will cost a bit more as you need to purchase a new drive...the Samsung MS28 are in abundance atm & going pretty cheap
