Default AFL Tipping 2024 - Rules and Suggested Change

    Current Tipping Champ - Johnno

So again, copy and paste from previous years rules.

This year for whatever reason the AFL in their infinite wisdom have come up with what is called the “Opening Round” which is followed the following week by Round 1 , f#@king idiots. So I will refer to the “Opening Round” as Round 0

    No rule changes (Yet)

    The Rules

    Scoring:
Pick the winner = 1 points
Pick the loser = 0 points

If there is a draw = 1 point for either tip

Forget to tip = away game.

Finals will still be 1 point a game.

Tips must be posted prior to the start of a game, tips can be changed, again before the game starts.

NOTE: If no tips are made for 3 rounds in a row then you are disqualified from the competition.

So the reason for the (Yet) with respect to rule changes is a proposal and it’s only that, so I would like some feedback below, and that is that two of the 23 Rounds can be deemed by the tipper as a double points bonus round, that is any two rounds during the season will be worth double points (Except for Draws which will remain just 1 point) so a tipper nominates before the round starts that he is playing a bonus round.
If a tipper hasn’t played any bonus rounds after Round 21 then the last two rounds will automatically be bonus rounds, and if the tipper has only played one bonus round after Round 22 then the last round will automatically be a bonus round.
If you nominate a round as a bonus round and you wish to change your mind, then you must do so in that round’s thread prior to game time of the first game of that round.

As I said it’s just a suggestion, it’s similar to what is done in other tipping comps I compete in.

Anyway let me know below what you think, good idea, bad idea, absolute rubbish idea or suggestions and questions, all are welcome. We have a month to prepare.

    Fine by me, Al.

Also... what's the rule with 'no-shows' other than away team if missed tipping.

Out of the competition after how many consecutive misses?

3 full no shows in a row = disqualification.

I will add that to the rules post above.

Not really a fan, but I'll go with whatever most want....especially as I'm having my first coffee atm and I hate everyone for a while....

The "opening round"? FFS, the AFL can't help messing with a good product. I'm waiting for them to be really all inclusive and have a "non-indiginous, people who actually invented the game and keep it flourishing despite the AFL constantly fiddling" round.

    Sorry...I'll get more coffee.....
The fact that there's a highway to hell and a stairway to heaven says a lot about the anticipated traffic flow.

Actually they just call it the “Opening Round” and then called the following week Round 1.

I just said I would refer to it as Round 0

Next year they will no doubt introduce closing round, having themselves deemed opening round a complete success.

We pay for these muppets through increasing prices from the turnstiles to the bar. What do we get for our our $? Opening round……

Actually, I will ask for feedback on this too guys, do you think 3 full missed rounds means disqualification is about right, or we want to be harder, 2 full rounds or a little more lenient 4 or 5 rounds, I will be guided by what you guys think.

I reckon strike 3 & out is a fair balance, Al.

I think its a bit harsh when you only get 5 years jail for murder these days (less parole and time served)

So are you saying that we should get parole after three rounds?
