Default Sony Mini DV to PC

So i was cleaning up in a spare room and came across my old sony mini VD handy cam, surprisingly the 2003 batteries charged up and i was able to view some of the footage from some of my kids early birthdays and a few xmas days when they were young.
I still had the original sony USB cable i tried to see if my win10 PC would detect it but nothing i tried worked, got a firewire to USB cable as a google search suggested but still no luck.
Probably its too old for win10 and no drivers were found, sony site wasn't much help.

Has anyone has this problem and found a suitable solution ? something i haven't tried yet is to fire up an old XP laptop and see if is able to detect and work with the camera.
    Camera is a DCR TRV19.

    =)

Looks like they've dropped 32bit support (and the sony raw driver) ; seems to be you need to use the 'PlayMemories' software on win10 ---

I found an earlier copy of play memories and downloaded it but when i went to install it it fails when it tries to connect to the camera on my win7 machine, sony support site suggested i install the usb driver after uninstalling the original.
Got as far and rebooting the PC at which point it froze , will see what happens tonight or will attempt to startup my old XP laptop.

If it's been sitting around for a bit, make sure the USB socket on the camera is clean.

Its detected by the PC as an unknown device so i think its just a driver compatibility issue.
